The first thing I thought of (after saying "Hey, the new show is finished") was "This seems like a rehash of the 'Did You Know Gaming?' videos." After finishing the video, I understood the difference between the two (kinda). I would like to see more.
It was good but it seems like something that could easily be lumped into DYKG videos, or maybe something the spriters resource could handle better then us, what with getting into the games and all.
I don't recall and DYKG videos with such a long explanation of how a series played before. I would have much rather just heard the trivia straight up than listen to an explanation of how LoZ plays for a minute and half. This probably would not be a complaint if I had never played the game before. However, being completely honest here, no one who's never played LoZ or any other game you do in the future is going to search up videos of cut content from said games.
Cut that intro down and go straight into the meat of it. It will flow 10 times better that way.
We have to cater to every audience member; while the introduction may appear long, the Zelda series is expansive. Many were unaware of there being a breakfast cereal based on the series. Some also had no idea that the game was adapted into a Manga.
This is part 1 of a long number of episodes; not every episode will introduce the series as a whole, because that would be ridiculous. You have to remember that a number people that view our videos are in the age range of 9-13. These people would have barely even played Minish Cap, never mind Ocarina of Time and A Link To The Past. Some people how no idea on the extensive history of a series such as this without conducting research themselves. We've alleviated that research in 1 minute.
Episode 1 of any series we cover will inherently require that we tell you what that series is.
Maybe there could be a small "CC" that just says "Press to skip to trivia" or something, just for the people who can't bare 1 minute and 50 seconds of their life for some information.
Besides that, it was a good little trivia video, can't wait to see more Zelda.

Maybe.
But cereal is not leftover trivia, nor was it vital to understand that video. That would have fit in very well with a DYKG video (was would the fact is shared the box with another famed Nintendo franchise). But it was highly out of place in what I would call a video on cut game content.
I feel that your intro video could have been just a few sentences and did the same thing instead of a minute and a half. Just because you go into less detail doesn't mean you aren't showing how vast and important the series is.

I was the same way with the Mega Man series. When I started out, it was the 3rd game in the Battle Network games. I thought it started with this series and so did a few of my friends. It was not until someone showed me one of the classic games (Megaman 2 most likly) that I started to understand how old the series is. I think that the intro should stay in (for the first part at lest).

However, this does sound like a good idea for those of us how don't care about the background of the game.
Though if you don't care for background, why are you watching a video for cut content?
Eh, the response seemed positive on part of the YouTube audience so I say keep going for it.
For the record, if we take out the intro, it doesn't mean we will magically discover more content; this is a specialist subject, and in that sense has a limited quantity of content.
I understand, its why I said that The Spriters Resource people might be able to handle it better.
You do realize that we (Dazz and I, but mostly Dazz) are the Spriters Resource people, right?
And to throw in my two cents on the intro issue, for a series as big as Zelda, I think it makes sense. It doesn't matter if the intro's content is 100% relevant or if a lot of our audience already knows it. The purpose is to introduce the game or games we'll be talking about and give a little history to make it clear that the series justifies this kind of in-depth look. It won't be present in any of the future videos for the Zelda series so if it really bothered you that much, the good news is that you won't have to suffer through another until we tackle our next series.
I knew Dazz was, didn't know you were. I just think it'd be cool for some co-op between the sites in that respect.
But there already is! Even though it may not be obvious, one example immediately comes to mind - the cannon soldier. It was found when Dazz (I think) was ripping sprites from A Link to the Past for tSR.
