A looooooot of sources named Playstation 3 as the best bluray player on the market when it was released in 2006. Even today you can find PS3 in listings of best bluray players on the market. There is not one source that would state it as an indefinite fact but there are articles that discuss the fact that the console is indeed one of the best in existence.

I could not find a listing from the early years of PS3 but I have a computer magazine that did list the PS3 number one back in 2006-7.
