The Twin Galaxies Intergalactic Scoreboard announced a prize on September 24, 2005 for $1,000 to the first player to beat George Costanza's fictional Frogger high-score of 860,630 points, from the Seinfeld episode The Frogger, in which George buys a Frogger arcade-cabinet that holds his high-score on it and ends the episode trying to cross a traffic-busy street with the battery-powered cabinet , ala Frogger style.
The contest ended in December 31, 2005 with no winners, and it wasn't until December 22, 2009 when a person named Pat Laffaye from Connecticut, USA beat the fictional-score at 896,980 points. Pat's highscore was then beaten on July 15, 2012 by a person named Michael Smith, with a new highscore of 970,440 points.
