The stage "Days of Future Past" in UMvC3 has a giant poster in the background that has a few of the characters from the previous title, Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, who were left out of this title listed as either "slain" or "apprehended". This poster itself is an homage to the cover of The Uncanny X-Men #141.

Worth noting is that a few or the "slain" and "apprehended" statuses have switched places when comparing to the original and Cyclops, Colossus and Iceman have retained their respective places and statuses from the original cover. Megaman has taken Woverine's place as the one still on the run, possibly as a response to the fans craving for Megaman to be playable in the game.
