I'm about to get an early Christmas gift from my mom who is helping my sister's and their husbands with 500 dollars worth of repairs on their cars. My car is pretty new and doesn't need repairs so, since I'm getting the same amount, possibly within a month, I'm likely going to buy an Xbox One with the 1tb data space. It all sounds good up until that point but the problem is that I will probably only be able to buy one game for it unless other family get me games for it at Christmas. So the question is, what do I get? Any Xbox owners or just those educated about the system able to give me advice? I'd appreciate it.
Even though I don't see myself buying one anytime in the near future (most of the games I want for the thing can be found on the PS4 and/or the WiiU), I have an idea of what could be bought for it. (Things marked with a * are unreleased at the moment)
Lets start out with the obvious. Anything Halo (Halo War 2*, Halo 5*, Halo Collection) and Dead Rising 3
If you're into the series by this point, Mortal Kombat X, and Kingdom Hearts III*
Rare Replay (a must for all Rare fans and a good gift to ask for if you only get one game)
Dead or Alive 5 is cool too.
MGSV THE PHANTOM PAIN (Ground Zeroes is for free until 31/08 for Gold members) or Gears of war Ultimate (great online multiplayer).
MGSV is also on PC/PS4 and Gears on PC/W10 (later).
You could get the Xbone with the Halo bundle, and still have enough for another game.
Do you mind if I ask why an XBone?

Gamescom convinced me that there are a few games I want on it. I thought about a Wii U, but all in all, I think I'd rather have the Xbox. I already have the PS4.
Word of advice, if you have a program called "TVersity" or Windows 10 you can stream videos, movies and music from your computer to your Xbox one and watch them on your TV.
It's really nice to be able to have hundreds of shows and movies available to watch at any time. If that's your thing.
Anyhow games wise. I'd say if you haven't played any of the Halo games already, get the Master Chief Collection, and I could give you my ODST code because Microsoft gave me one but I don't need it so I gave it to someone else and they keep sending me a code every month because I haven't used it on my account so I seem to have infinite Halo 3 ODST codes.
Sunset Overdrive was somewhat fun from what I hear, so check that out.
MGS:GZ and in a week or so Phantom Pain will be out, so you could potentially get those on the Xbox One if you want. But you should really play the originals first if you haven't.
Rare Replay is alright, it could give you tons and tons of hours of games to play if it's your thing.
Alien Isolation is pretty good on the Xbox One as well. I have yet to complete it but I find it very fun to play.
Upcoming games. Halo 5 and Halo Wars 2. The former isn't going to be good but I'm getting it anyway, so you might want to if the Master Chief Collection is to your liking. Halo Wars 2 might be better since Creative Assembly are making it and as we already know anyone who isn't 343 can make good Halo games so you should look out for that.
Quantum Break looks quite interesting, so keep an eye out for that.
I can't really think of any other games at this moment. But Games for Gold gives you two games a month or so for "free" that you can keep even if your gold runs out (unlike Sony and their PS+) so definitely watch out for those.
KILLER INSTINCT! It's sole reason I bought mine and it still the number 1 game on the platform. That's if you like fighting games. It's also a free download(where you buy the full game later on if you want). So there's one game you already own.
Personally, Rare Replay is the best title out. Incredibly fun with 30 games to play. All in HD too.
There's also both DmC: DE and DMC4: SE which are too remastered games and at a cheaper price.
If you want shooters there is Halo: MCC and Titanfall. Personally I think Titanfall is a more enjoyable experience.
Social fun gaming. Then I'd recommend Dead Rising 3 and Sunset Overdrive. Slaying Humanoid Monsters with a friend in a sandbox game is hype!
Puzzle games. Puyo Puyo Tetris and Threes are well worth the buy/download. The best puzzle games the system has to offer.
It's also worth noting that the Xbox One is region free so you can import Puyo Puyo Tetris :D (and join me)
There are also plenty of great games to download from the Xbox Live store. At the moment Metal Gear Solid is "free" to download (Have to be gold member). The store has some brilliant games on there and is updated every week.

That's actually only for Xbox 360. Microsoft did actually fix that with the Xbox One so your games will be locked should your gold run out.
I should have probably said something about not including Xbox gold accounts because I'm not paying for that any time soon as the games that are coming out for the system that I want are single player. Another reason I'm not paying for it is because I wouldn't be able to buy a game unless it were extremely cheap.

Fair enough. I think I have a few online codes lying around I'd be happy to give. They only let you play online.
That being said, Xbox marketplace has plenty of cheap singe player arcade titles such as: Strider, Tembo The Elephant and D4.
