WWF No Mercy on the N64 was notorious for all data being completely lost due to a massive memory glitch. Almost a year later, a fixed version was released. The newer version also had blood removed, although animations and "first blood" matches remained in the game.
Personally, I experienced this as this was my favorite wrestling game on the N64.
