The character select screen in Vanillaware's Dragon's Crown for PS3 and Vita is nearly identical to the character select screen of Capcom's old arcade game Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom. George Kamitani, the director of Dragon's Crown, worked as one of the designers on Tower of Doom so this most likely is an homage to his earlier work. Both games also happen to be very similar in terms of gameplay, both being beat 'em up RPGs, a rather unusual genre combination.

In addition to being a scene in a tavern, around a round table, the warrior is in the same place as the fighter, in both pictures the elf occupies the same spot, as does the dwarf, and both mages in Dragon's Crown sit in the same space as the cleric. The sorceress is even making the same pose as the fighter in Tower of Doom.
