What do you guys listen to?
How'd you get into the music you listen to?
Any recommendations?
Personally, I have no taste in music. I couldn't recommend you anything besides the most generic bands and artist, and even if I were to tell you Video Game Composers, it'd mostly be Naganuma or the guy behind Danganronpa's OST.
Most of the music I do listen to was found randomly from other sites, video games or just by luck.
What about you guys, what music do you listen to and like?
Where to start?
It's complicated how I get into it. Sometimes I want to get pumped up, so, of course, I prefer faster our heavy hitting music. Then there's easy listening.
I have my presets in my truck:
1. Oldies - 60s, 70s & 80s rock 'n roll and some other stuff
2. & 3. - my wife set up country stations. I really, really do not like "country". I don't care much for Luke Bryan (I had to Google country singers because I don't know who's who), Blake Shelton, etc.
I like old country. Give me some Johnny Cash.
4. & 5. Classical - Mozart, Tchaikovsky, etc. My mother used to put headphones on her stomach and play classical music when she was pregnant with me. She takes credit for me listening to classical.
I also like different decades. I can go from listening to The Clash to The Verve to Mumford & Sons to Rocky training montages and so on and so forth.
I love variety.
I don't have a specific genre or style of music that I listen to, but rather the songs that I find appealing. There are three artists in which I listen to a majority of their music, though: Queen, ABBA, and Rick Astley.
Queen- I love Queen. They're so much more than just their main hits. I even like their songs that go against their original style are entertaining, such as Body Language. Classic rock was one of the genres I grew up around, as my father listens to Chicago, Boston, REO Speedwagon and the sort.
ABBA- Just like how I grew up around classic rock, I also grew up around ABBA because of my mother. It's her favorite band and I eventually embraced their music as well. It's one of the reasons I love the musical Mamma Mia! It's a good play, but a butchering of a movie. The official soundtrack to it is great, but the actual versions in the movie are awful. I especially hate how they did Lay All Your Love On Me in it.
Rick Astley- It may or may not come as a shock to you, but it tends to come across as a joke to most when I utter the phrase, "I listen to Rick Astley." Jokes, comments, and sudden outbursts of Never Gonna Give You Up commence, but it no longer bothers me. I listen to all of his music, ranging from his early days of 80's pop hits to his soulful ballads and even his more recent experiments of different genres. He has some amazing music beyond his #1 hits. A fun fact, he does some great covers.
Those are my main artists, but I listen to certain songs that appeal to me. I have a few Chicago, Boston, and REO Speedwagon songs as I mentioned earlier. Some Michael Jackson, Hall & Oates, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, Ben E. King, Journey, and others just mix-matched. I have some Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, and Dvorak. This will sound really 2012, but I have some PSY, as well as other K-Pop artists. I have some one-on-one-off songs like Another Irish Drinking Song by Da Vinci's Notebook and others like that. I even have some random songs from YouTube that I like, primarily Schmoyoho's Songify the News and Songify This! songs. I also love musical soundtracks, mainly because theatre is my future career.
To summarize, my playlist has a little bit of everything. Except country. Well, unless you count John Mellencamp/Cougar as country. But then I'll refuse to call him country. Too bad this area is hardcore country lovers. It's all that plays anywhere you go. But that's a topic for the Vent Thread.
I don't listen to actually music so much. But if you want to listen to video game music I've got some good ones. (I have no life okay)

I like 80s music because I find most modern songs trash. I mostly listen to video game music because I have no life.
some bands and singers I like:
I love the Parlor Mob.
Bruno Mars is great.
RUSH 40 is pretty good.

I don't usually like love songs but when it comes to "Never Gonna Give You Up" I'll sing the lyrics out loud and not give a hoot. I've actually done that in a school carnival. One of my favorite songs actually. It's so catchy.

This is about as accurate as the term can get, honestly.
I'm all over the place when it comes to music. I generally don't mind most music, so long as it fits the mood. I've noticed that a lot of music I listen to has very prominent tempo keeping noises though. I'm not sure if that's part of why I like the songs or not though.
Honestly, I listen to everything. I listen to Country becuse that is what I was rised with. I listen to Rock becuse that was what most of the stations around me played where I grew up (their were like 2 country stations, 3 rap, 1 old rock, and like 8 mother and 80's-90's-00's rock stations). I even listen to old stuff becuse that is what my parents liked. What I don't listen to is new Rap, mostly becuse I have no idea what it feels to be a black guy, someone with lots of money, someone who "gets all the bitches," someone that looks down on the rest of the world, or a combo of the four. Old rap (80's to really early 00's) is fine though.
How do I get into music? I do a few things. A. I listen to the radio and find people that sound good. B. I hear about them from friends or this forum. C. I find them by accident. Honestly, I found Skillet by trying to find Hero by Nickleback and I found Queen from two Newgrounds video that used Four Swords Links to sing
We are the Champions, and
Princes of the Universe and one that had Mario singing
Bohemian Rhapsody. Both bands are my favorites after this.
Oh and as an aside note, I can't stand the works of Conway Twitty anymore. Middle school though end of High school, my mom would listen to nothing but him.
I randomly find a song on the radio or Pandora or something, look it up, and then proceed to play it on loop constantly for 4-6 business days until I hate it. I love this era of music tech, where discovering your new favorite song is so easy to do.
This is my latest foil:
^
Man, this song has been engraved in my head along with like every other song in Scrubs, haha.
As for me, I discovered Surfer Rock is a thing and now I just listen to it a lot. It's a dumb genre but it has a sort of God Hand-ish, laid back, 80's/90's america feel to it. Plus it's pretty comfy to listen to.
Incidentally, I've grown a fondness for Toshiki Kadomatsu. All his music is just Japanese Funk from the 80's. So imagine
Emerald Coast music from ALL his music.
I can go from full metal to Britney Spears if I like it. Mainly I listen to rock, heavy metal, nu metal and mostly anything near that genre.
If you guys like metal music listen to this, totally worth it.
Well,with my anime-related love,this couldn´t go any better.
Any Smooth Mcgroove fans on here?
