That's right, sonic is back to his roots and next year we get a new console version of the Sonic in a 2D platformer. I'm hyped because it's what we've wanted for such a long time, and it looks great.
So, thoughts anyone? If there is one thing about this trailer I don't like, it's that there's not really a lot of info about the game except that it's old school Sonic. In one respect, that's great, in another, I'd like a little more info if there's any out there.
Other trailers are in my second post in the this thread.
It looks pretty cool actually, I enjoyed the 2D sonic titles.
All they will need now is Mega Drive/Sega CD music or similar composers, and I'm game.
A little too late for Sega to win my heart back. I will admit, Mania does look cool. Especially with this
I say give them a shot. Mania looks great, the 2017 project which is basically generations 2 looks fun and the while I don't like the the mobile game so I won't defend that, Lego Dimensions Sonic levels and gameplay actually might prompt me to get the game, and I have to admit, Fire and Ice on the 3DS is looking pretty fun.
My thoughts on Mania: It's everything the fans have been asking for. It's going to suck because it's not want they wanted.
As for Project Sonic 2017, it looks like Sonic Generations 2. This makes me want to get a PS4 faster. Am I the only one who thinks that the level shown in the trailer looks alot like either Rooftop Run from Unleashed or City Escape from Adventure 2?
What I really want this to be (besides Sonic Generations 2) is a game that uses characters from Sonic's past as assistance (the line "even heroes need help" makes me want this). We start with some of the well known characters (Amy, Rouge, Vector) and as you go though the game you get more teammates and by the end you get to have Mighty, Ray, Bean, and maybe even Sticks and Boom Sonic. Like what they did in Generations 1, their can be side-boss battles and they would be agenst hypnotized, recruited, or otherwise tricked characters. I'm thinking Fang/Nack who was payed to be on the team, a reprogrammed Omega, Knuckles who got tricked again, Shadow just to test you, and Silver can be their somewhere (I don't care). As end bosses we can have Eggman, Eggman Nega, either Metal Sonic from Knuckles Chaotix or Metal Overlord, and maybe a new Time Eater/a new dimension traveling villain. If we do get this and we get Boom dimension, I want a mock boss with Boom Eggman that goes into the real boss.
Yeah, they should just call Sonic 2017 'Generations 2'. Its got retro Sonic in it. Unless if they want another year for a Sonic game to be mocked on(like what happened with Sonic 06) they better change the title.

I have my doubts that the finalized title of the game is going to be Project Sonic 2017. It'd be cool if it was called Project Sonic because it was a project using every aspect from Sonic thus far, but more than likely, will be called Generations 2.
Both Sonic games have got me pretty pumped. Sonic Mania looks really good, and I'm even more excited that it's being made by Christian Whitehead.
Sonic 2017 also looks cool, but I wish we had some more info.
Side note: odd that they decided to use the song "Let's Make It!" from Sonic Adventure 2 as the music for the Sonic Lego Dimensions trailer. The song is only 47s long, and you can tell because the kept looping it to fit the length of the trailer. Also it's just odd because that song is only used in the Hero Story intro cutscene and no where else.
I'll wait for release. I was actually really excited for Boom until it sucked.
I know its a completely different team and in the element sonic games actually shine with, so I've still got good expectations for this one.
Sonic Generations 2!
Well that stream was horrendous.
I was watching it at 2am and then turned it off so I could watch the video trailers later. It was painful....but sadly to be expected.
