I now haven't seen my dad for 651 days and can't wait to give him the motherlode of all hugs when I see him again in August :D

My parents and sister also live abroad, so we have to time our respective returns to Europe together. Over the past two years, due to some bad luck, we've only had a maximum of three people out of four in the same place at one time. This year, we've given ourselves a one month window so hopefully it'll be four out of four !

My dad wouldn't pick up the phone anyway. :/

Definitely this. I haven't seen my dad since Christmas (Not that long ago) and I don't know when I'll see him again, but believe-you-me it's going to be a totally heterosexual affair.

This day for me is always bittersweet because I end up thanking my mom for playing both roles since my dad never wanted to be a part of my life and even denies I'm his kid.

I can't really miss what I never had, but I know it must've been tough on my mom to raise a kid solo, so I'm grateful that I at least have her.
