At the Movies!

That's what I absolutely don't want. I think I almost went catatonic after watching A Troll in Central Park.

Don Bluth is a stellar animator but he can't tell an original story to save his life. If All Dogs go to Heaven is the best you can do, you're in trouble.

Yeah, but I'm sure Despicable Me 2 won't delve that deep in the kiddie pool.

After the latest preview I saw I'm out unless one of you guys sees Despicable Me 2 and has good things to say.

Went to see This is the End with my dad, it was really gross and really hilarious simultaneously, which is exactly what they were aiming for so I'm cool with it.

Also, as for Despicable Me, the first movie was honestly the single worst movie I've ever seen. Seriously, it's that bad. It wasn't one of those movies that was so bad that you could laugh at it's terribleness like The Room or any of the Power Rangers or SyFy channel movies, it was the most joyless thing I've ever sat through. Nothing was funny about it, at all. I was on board for the premise, then it just turned into little yellow dudes farting and hitting eachother while a good actor did a bad accent and talked about being evil while never really being evil, But he has a goofy puppy and a Whacky scientist friend who mishears him because he's old, let's let that joke run for one and a half hours! Then he gets some annoying little kids to break into another "evil that isn't actually evil" guy's house for some weapon he barely uses.

The whole thing of looking through the supervillian's perspective is completely lost without having any kind of reference to superheroes or even the police, without them and without any major plots to cause large scale harm (i.e. Evil), the movie is just about a douchebag who adopts some kids in order to screw over another douchebag. This is where this movie just flat out fails, as opposed to the obvious comparison of Megamind, which I sort of enjoyed.

As for the whole "It's a kids movie, chill out." point, I really never would've given this movie any thought if it wasn't for the fact that everyone else seems to love it so effin' much. Seriously this sh*t has an 82% on rottentomatoes, which is higher than Return of the Jedi. I'm just baffled that so many people like a movie who's best joke is just a little kid saying "It's so fluffy." I'm not even that much of a typical hipster film douche, I like a lot of popular movies so long as they're well made.

Nggh, ramble over, now to watch Wreck it Ralph.

I saw the new GI Joe the other day. Now if you know me, you know I love really stupid, ridiculously over the top movies that make no goddamn sense. Having said that, I loved the shit out of this movie. It's not a good movie by normal standards, but holy hell this movie was fun. Also saw Oblivion and really hated it until the "twist" at the end was revealed because the opening scene made no sense until the reveal.

I've seen some of the trailers on TV and a short plot summary and from what I see it still seems like a fun movie.

Oh my god, right? I love the dude's movies but seriously, where the hell does he get his ideas? How the hell does an idea like Rock-A-Doodle even manifest? I loved the movie as a kid, but I don't understand how Bluth, as a grown as man, thought something like that would be able to out do Disney.

I would've been pissed if I hadn't been treated to Despicable Me 2.

Oooh! Let's shake our asses and crotches at the camera and have lots of silly dancing! The kids will love that! Let's hook Gru up with one of the most annoying female characters ever created!

I'm going to bash my head against the door until I get a brain injury severe enough to forget what I just saw.

Just saw the Batman movie with Bane. The breaking scene was not nearly as epic as I had heard.

WHY USE EXPLOSIVES WHEN YOU HAVE A BIG ASS SWORD?

Anyways, Pacific Rim was over the top fun. I quite enjoyed it.

I saw Pacific Rim too, the fighting and visuals were really amazingly awesome in every way possible.

THAT BEING SAID: The story was pretty predictable, a lot of the acting was pretty bad, Idris Elba had four different accents over the course of the movie, and it had so many cliches in it.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie and loved the fighting and the action and it was obvious that they were focusing on it more than the story, I just wished that is wasn't so damn choppy.
The one thing that I did like is that they actually explained a few things really quickly in ways that made sense as opposed to either dragging them out or completely ignoring them. Like when I saw the helicopters for the first time I didn't get why they would be there except for movie lighting purposes, but then one of the pilots just quickly asks if the choppers had a visual on the Kaiju, little stuff like that and the two-pilot system is a really nice touch.

The movie itself aside, I also had the greatest movie-theater experience ever when I went to see it. The ticket guy messed up our tickets (I went to see it with my dad) so we got to see it in 3D for the price of 2D (normally I hate 3D, but it was done really well in this movie), we had the entire theater to ourselves, I got a free poster from the premiere because they had a bunch of spares leftover (Here's what it looks like), and after the movie I realized that I dropped my wallet when I tried to find some change to play a quick round of Mortal Kombat, and the guy just turned on all of the lights in the theater room so I could look for it.

Great camping trip.

Pacific Rim....BEST movie ever. I question the human race since grown ups 2 is making more money than this work of art right here.

Seems like everyone who's seen Rim that I've read or heard about has really liked it. I might just have to go see it sometime if I can get me some money.
