I was a little baby child when it aired on MTV, so I suppose that's why I missed it, but a show called The Maxx looks really interesting. I'll check it out and buy the comic if I like it.

The Maxx is probably one of the most outstanding and visually good looking shows at the time. It'd be nice to see MTV do something like this again, but sadly, the last attempt they did for animation killed any interest for it.

^The internet is up in flames about it, and needless to say. I'm fucking sick of that 'style' of animation now.

So I watched the first two Kung Fu Panda films for the first time in many years this wednesday. Yesterday? I finally got around and watched Kung Fu Panda 3 for the first time in my life. Quite fitting that it happened this year since this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Kung Fu Panda franchise!

Anyway, back to the reviews:

Kung Fu Panda: I liked it. The story is simple but the execution is great. Jack Black (Po) and Dustin Hoffman (Shifu) voices were just right for their parts, and the chopstick fight between them was pretty good. The laughs are mixed in at the appropriate moments.  Overall, Kung Fu Panda was really good all around.

Oh yeah, make sure to stay for the credits. Something sweet happens after that.

Kung Fu Panda 2: Po has actually changed compared to his incarnation in the first movie. Po behaves more like it's own character, rather Jack Black on a panda body. Lord Shen was one of (if not THE) best animated villains I've seen in a Dreamworks film. Great character design, an interesting backstory and an outstanding performance by Gary Oldman.
They also improved on the action scenes and the animation in general compared to the first one.

I would Like to say more but I'm afraid I might spoil something. Anyway, if you enjoyed the first one, then trust me when I tell you that you are going to LOVE the second one.

Kung Fu Panda 3: Well, for starters, Bryan Cranston is AWESOME as Po's biological father and a welcome addition to the cast. J.K Simmons nailed it as the main villain 'Kai' as well.

On the donwside, The Furious Five get far less screen time. I know the movie centers around Po finding out who he is, but still, I would have liked to see more of them. Their only purpouse in this movie is to showcase how much of a threath the new villain is. Speaking of Kai, I found him to be rather... weak. Basically, he is a greedy bastard and... yeah, that's pretty much his whole thing. He certainly has his quirks and whatnot, but still found him to be quite basic.

In short, while is true Kung Fu Panda 3 wasn't exactly better that is predecessor (KFP2), it was still a good way to end this trilogy.

Moving on from Kung Fu Panda, I want to say happy 15th anniversary to Spider-Man: The New Animated Series! (aka MTV Spider-Man)

This reminded me a bit of those old Cartoon Network bumpers that sometimes had other shows interacting with each other in a city. For something I'm not too fond of, this is actually well thought out and together

A side by side comparison has been made of how the Batman TAS opening has looked compared to what they've done with it for the remastered version. It's honestly pretty amazing how clear and crisp the picture looks.

However... I'm wondering how it's going to affect the "feel" of the show. I'm used to it looking so "muddy" and blurry. For it to be this bright... It's going to be like an entirely new experience.

Thoughts?
