This is basically talking about Half Life 3 running on the Steambox, and the bug report about Half Life 3. Graphical Bugs.

It confirms that both are in the works, and that Steam Box is running ubuntu 12.04 64 bit.

So yeah, make your Valve can count to 3 jokes now.

I never experienced the Half-Life series, but I have seen tons of people that have wanted this game for so long. So congrats to everyone that wanted this.

I feel bad because I'm not actually that excited for it.
I loved Half Life 2, wasn't a huge fan of the other episodes but I still had a lot of fun with them, but to be honest I just don't think HL3 can live up to the hype.
I really hope that I'm wrong.

Valve was making Half Life 2 Episode 3 and created an interesting game mechanic that they felt was more exciting to pursue and explore in an unrestrained context, and that became Portal. Portal 2 is actually Half-Life 3 and I'm glad Valve went that route. Perfectly executed game concepts, mechanics and inspired game design etc > obligatory names, numbers and fan service.

Portal wasn't conceived by the team that developed Half Life, it was conceived by Nuclear Monkey Software who originally design the game as part of their college coursework if I remember correctly.

It was only when Valve picked them up that some of the Half Life team were added to the development group - I wouldn't say that Portal is a spiritual successor to Half Life at all. Sure both games share the same world and some mechanics but I wouldn't say that's enough to think that it's in any way related.

That was a tech demo they snatched up. I just want people to stop asking for HL3.

I'd be glad to see it if it was an exclusive launch game for a Steambox, though.

I just hope It gets confirmed for real already. I'm tired of all these "Half-life 3 confirmed" stuff all over the internet. People make the stupidest thing up, like: DidYouKnowGaming? has 4 capital letters and 1 question mark. 4-1= 3. Half Life 3 confirmed.
