RE: The Sporting News - Kakariko Kid - 11-07-2017 The Houston Astros recently won the MLB World Series. Former MLB pitcher Roy "Doc" Halladay died in a plane crash. RE: The Sporting News - Kakariko Kid - 11-15-2017 The University of Florida Gators fired head coach Jim McElwain earlier in the season. The University of Tennessee Volunteers recently fired head coach Butch Jones. RE: The Sporting News - CosmykTheDolfyn - 12-08-2017 Eugen Enin showing off that he not only deserved to be bumped up to the USD Pro team from the amateur, but he deserves his Pro boot as well. Most parkour videos have freerunning mixed in some parts. RE: The Sporting News - CosmykTheDolfyn - 01-25-2018 So, this one is personally awesome for me. Stefan is from around the same area as I am and has been working very hard on supporting blading for years. Personally known him for a few years. He rode as an amateur for a different skate company for several years a little while ago. Unfortunately, he took a really nasty injury that forced him to quit riding as much, but he started working very hard as a filmer for other riders/projects during the time he healed. He lost his Amateur status with his sponsor at this time though. As a result of him losing the status at the time, he switched to riding Rollerblade Solo boots at this time (really specific model of skate). I happened to not only be in the same area but also rode the same model at the time. There is one really big flaw in the Rollerblade Solo boot that one part of these skates (the soul plates)break very frequently. Despite this, it's a very responsive ride. I would always break this particular piece on my right skate, and he would also break the same piece on the left side. You could only buy both the right and left pieces together in a set when getting replacement parts. So, either time either of us would break this one particular part, we'd split the costs while I would keep the right piece, and he would keep the left one. Helped us both out. With time, he recovered from his injury and got another sponsorship from a different boot company (Razors). As a result, we quit swapping skate parts so much. Of course, I eventually moved away also. Today it was announced he was being moved up to the Pro team from Amateur. I haven't talked with him in quite a while, but it's just really cool to see a buddy that I used to swap skate parts with all the time officially go Pro. I never thought I would see the day were someone would make the salmon ladder look like child's play. RE: The Sporting News - ZpaceJ0ck0 - 01-31-2018 Formula 1 to drop grid girls for 2018 aka 400+ women will lose their jobs because... reasons. Just wonderful. And before anyone says that is bad having grid girls in the wake of the #MeToo movement... if we know that the grid girls aren't being used against their will, underpaid and abused, then what's the problem? Nobody is getting harmed by this. RE: The Sporting News - Psychospacecow - 01-31-2018 I didn't know you watched F1. Who do you go for? I still don't know who should I root for. What about you? RE: The Sporting News - Psychospacecow - 01-31-2018 I really don't care about the people, just the car stuff. RE: The Sporting News - SERIOUSLY THOUGH - 01-31-2018 There are dozens of us ! I'm really happy for Esteban Ozon. 21-year-old French guy who ended up 8th in his first season ! I've always liked Vettel and Alonso, otherwise. Especially Alonso, as he was on Renault for a good few seasons. RE: The Sporting News - ZpaceJ0ck0 - 02-07-2018 Yo, guys. Just wanted to let you know that the original creator of SASUKE/Ninja Warrior Ushio Higuchi made a new show called KuroOvi. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_uxDDrcKNg9Cbq9UPYCeuQ/videos?sort=da&flow=grid&view=0 Can't say much regarding the quality of the show given I've only watched the first four videos. But still, just a heads up. RE: The Sporting News - ZpaceJ0ck0 - 02-12-2018 So I recently came across this subreddit called /r/IHateSportsball, which basically makes fun of people who feel superior to others simply because they don't like sports. Man, the people that have the misfortune of being featured over there are delusional. It's almost like they think real life is like an American sitcom from the 80s where everyone is a stereotyped version of themselves ("you like both Baseball and D&D?! That's impossible!"). My favorite post has to be this one: What's funny about this one is that Plato himself and his teacher Socrates were athletes, wrestlers to be exact. In fact, Plato was actually a nickname (his real name was Aristocles), meaning "broad", likely referencing his broad shoulders. While we are at it, much of classical Greek society felt it was a person's obligation to try to "perfect" their bodies/physical appearance, as well as their minds. |
