If you have been wondering why your inbox has been so quiet as of late, the site has decided to get rid of the whole message notification. All new messages still appear in the box when you click on the bell, that red number that notifies of new messages just doesn't exist anymore.

God what is this? I always respond to people who comment on my videos but now I can't see who is a new commenter and it's also integrated with my other live feed stuff like subscription uploads and stuff.....my face

Funny since Rich is riding high of the YouTube "drama" reporting lately.

Youtube's current situation is pretty bleak :/ Watch from about 3:40 onwards, before that he talks about his own channel and future videos on it.

YouTube makes change to their Partner Program - channels must hit 10,000 lifetime views before they can make money

H3H3 on the state of YouTube and their channel's dimming future:

See? This whole mess shows why its important to never give one company too much power in any industry or setting.

If there was a viable competitor Youtube would have solved this already out of fear over large channels leaving. As is, they can just dick around as long as they want and not be in any danger of someone overtaking them.

Youtube is already showing its signs of it entering the toilet and not coming back up. The payment thing is already a bad sign for animators.

^

Youtube's been pretty crappy since 2010 my dude.

If they didn't see the error of their ways then, it's only going to get worse and worse as time goes on.

^True, its only a matter of time before one more screw up could lead to the downfall of youtube.

RE: Youtube but not the videos - ZpaceJ0ck0 - 04-26-2017

Like I said. This is what happens when you give one company too much power in any industry or setting.

Youtube's current situation is pretty bleak... and it's only getting worse.

On hidden camera, YouTube insiders confirm longstanding suspicion that they give preferential treatment to certain news organizations and manually curate front page and search results. [SKIP TO 3:48]

Anyone else start clicking on videos and exiting out to get the thumbnails to go away? I've found the "I'm not interested" tag actually makes them appear more.

First time I'm hearing about this. No, this never happened to me.

Looks like the European Commission is planning to enforce a law that will force websites available in the EU to host Content ID.
