I hate max payne SOOO MUCH!!!. Took me 3 freakin hours JUST TO GET THE GAME TO START UP. By the time I got the game working I did like 3 missions and felt tired and did not even feel like playing so I save my file, quit the game, start it up again to make sure my file is still there it was. I decide to load up the game again and my file is deleted. So I either fix this for I find a night where I can just have time to beat the game in one sitting.

Yeah, the first game is great, but it is a bitch to get running on modern machines. I love those games so much.

So I ordered another off Ebay today... WITH A SEGA CD ATTACHMENT!!! I'm very angry at the Genesis dying, but it'll be awesome to have a Sega CD. I'll be keeping a look out for Pier Solar and The Great Architects now.

No it won't.

Meh, I've wanted on for a while Specifically, games I'm looking for:
Snatcher (Although it's so expensive and valuable, not sure I'll ever actually get it.)
Both Lunar games
Sonic CD
Flashback (The Quest for Identity)
Robo Aleste
Vay
Prince of Persia

That might not be too many, but I like old Sega stuff, the good and the bad. It's not like there is an overwhelming list of great Sega CD games (because there aren't many), but I've just always wanted one and a few games for it.

So I figured out that I do not like the 64 as much as I use to.

I started looking at all the games that I have on my wish list, and noticed that I don't have a lot of 64 games compared to everything else. So I looked into what I don't have vs what I want/need to get. Turns out the 64 is filled with sports and racing games mixed with inferior ports of playstation games, which leaves only a handful of games I want. It's strange how nostalgia can make things look so good, but be wrong when you look deep into it.

Still the games I have and the ones I want still make it worth it to play. Without it I wouldn't have Majora's Mask or Rocket or Mischief Makers.

Yeah it's kinda true. It's actually the point where Nintendo started to go downhill. Since they used cartridges rather than discs, the games weren't as high quality as PlayStation. This also meant Nintendos third party support dropped out and we lost good games like the Final Fantasy series. Obviously this trend continued with the GameCube and the same attitude. The difference though is that Nintendo were constantly pooping out incredible titles. Not to mention the third party support still had some level of communication so we still got Resident Evil, Rayman 2 and the top-notch Rare games.

I think you're right though in that the library wasn't as good we(I) remember but there's still so many damn good titles for it that they doesn't seem overwhelm the N64

Here's a question. Why in the world were the gamecube discs so tiny but the cases average size?

RE: The Free Gaming Thread v2 : Electric Boogaloo - CosmykTheDolfyn - 08-16-2014

While we're speaking of things that Nintendo needs to do and odd decisions they make...
Bluetooth communication between 3DS and the Wii U. The tablet becomes the bottom screen of the game, the top screen is shown on your TV. DO IT NOW.

But, in any case, at least the gamecube cases were better than Sega CD and Sega Saturn cases.

Supposedly one of the reason is an anti-pirate measure. Which, it does honestly make sense and remained true until piracy did eventually win. However a benefit of smaller discs meant faster loading times as the lens had less area of a disc to read a shorter amount of time.

Obviously that does come with bigger problems and again led to Nintendo on their third party loss. Discs were only 1.6(ish) in size which meant cross platform games had to have limited features and detail. If not that then they had to be 2 discs. Also, again, because...well Nintendo, they were Nintendo's own type of disc meaning developers/publishers had to go through Nintendo to print discs.

That being said, the GameCube was frikkin' incredible and I still consider Nintendo to be kings of gaming even through the GameCube up to the Wii. That library (of around 500+) is still extremely good. As strange as it sounds, I think the GameCube is a better system because of it. For every God of War or Final Fantasy on the PS2, you had 10 other pieces of crap shoved on that system. The GameCube has tight quality library of gems with a small level of filler that infested the library.

Add it to the list of,
"Why doesn't Nintendo take on this good idea"?

I have no idea why. It might be due to how the west like their games or how we consider DVD size format cases to important (speculation). Funny you bring that up since I own quite few Japanese games. They range from GameBoy up to GameCube and over there, the story is much different.
Japanese on the left. West (PAL) on the right.

Japanese GameCube games are significantly smaller.

Not only that but they differently designed. They have a card box outer cover that slides over the top of the plastic shell. There is no front or back cover as they are the card case. Inside the plastic case is where all the important crap lie like the manual or additional pamphlets. But they're held in place by a small plastic bar. The GameCube disc and memory card are on the opposite side and closely put together.

That's really interesting Cody. I never would have guessed they'd have different packaging for the different regions.

Holy shit, why is DMC3 so good?

I fucking hate the first one so much, I thought it'd get better but it never did. It was fun sometimes, but most of the time it was just annoying to play, then I skipped two since most of the fans said it's not that great and went straight to three and it's so fucking good.

I just beat Agni & Rudra and got their weapons. I will admit the first DMC is much harder than this one (I keep getting S ranks all the time, as opposed to just getting B's in the first one) and as usual that Strike move you can use with RB + Y is OP as fuck, but 3 just feels better. The fixed camera angle still annoys me but it's not that bad. Although that Soul of Steel puzzle was annoying since I didn't think you could walk over the bridge just by having it since you usually need to activate something.

Hey Cody, what's your favourite one? Incidentally, you've played God Hand right?

RE: The Free Gaming Thread v2 : Electric Boogaloo - Zaliphone - 08-18-2014

I recently bought the Pink Knight DLC for Castle Crashers for the sole reason that the Pink Knight just looks so damn happy. I also found out a way to play Left 4 Dead 2 on PC with splitscreen, but getting a controller working for player 2 is a whole other ordeal.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't stand playing the first game for too long. The game is boring, confusing, and really hard (the last one is not a complanet but something that it teases you with if you get less than an A's or S's). It's not like it's a really bad game gameplay wise, it's just boring which makes a bad game for me.

I submitted four games for AGDQ 2015: Hot Wheels Turbo Racing, Trackmania: Build To Race, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine and Barney's Hide and Seek Game. My fingers are crossed and I'm nervous. We'll see if any get accepted!

I've decided that I'm going to try and get the platinum trophy for Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. So far I've discovered two games that I really love. Fatal Labyrinth is really good, it's a slow paced, randomly generated, rogue like, and I can't wait to go back to it. Beyond Oasis is a top-down RPG, similar to Secret of Mana, and I just love the way the gameplay feels. I can't wait to find out more games.
