RE: World News - Psychospacecow - 01-03-2016 Lets not jump at the gun here. This is not the first nor will it be the last of events like this. There were a few in the 1900s too. RE: World News - Kakariko Kid - 01-10-2016 The Powerball jackpot is now at an estimated $1.3 billion USD. No-one won the grand prize, 2 states had winners for $2 million and 14 states had winners of $1 million. Just wow. RE: World News - SERIOUSLY THOUGH - 01-12-2016 This is most British headline I've read all week - http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-35293133 RE: World News - ClaudX - 01-12-2016 The debate lineup for Thursday's Republican debate was announced on Monday. It's consisted of Trump, Cruz, Rubio, Carson, Bush, Christie, and Kasich. Paul and Fiorina were both dropped, but they were invited to an undercard debate, which Paul turned down. I am not certain that they still are continuing with the 6 PM debate with Fiorina, Huckabee, and Santorum. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/01/11/gop-candidate-line-up-announced-for-fox-business-network-debate.html I'd much rather see Paul on stage than Christie or Kasich, but the polls have decided the lineup. It's a shame that I won't be able to see him on an undercard debate, either, as I watch those as well. Surely they should all get the chance to say their bit. RE: World News - ClaudX - 01-12-2016 (01-12-2016, 06:05 PM)SERIOUSLY THOUGH Wrote: They can refuse candidates during debates ? How bizarre. Surely they should all get the chance to say their bit.If you're referring to where I said, "which Paul turned down", then I clearly misspoke. Rand Paul chose not to be on the undercard debate, as he felt it didn't reflect his campaign. Usually, it's up to the network hosting the debate as to the criteria that must be met in order to appear in the debate. Last year at the Fox Business debate, both Huckabee and Christie were dropped from the prime time debate and put into the undercard debate because they didn't meet Fox Business' criteria for the main debate. I believe the only reason they cut those two from the main stage is because two undercard participants have dropped out from the race since the last debate, and they can't possibly hold a debate between two candidates at this point, it'd be insulting, especially considering that one of those candidates was originally in the main debates. It is good that the field of candidates is slimming down, and I'm sure we'll be seeing the undercard debate participants suspending their campaigns in the near future. I don't see Paul or Christie dropping out anytime soon, as both have enough traction to be sustainable in this race thus far. RE: World News - SamuraiGaiden - 01-26-2016 So...looks like the issue in Oregon might be heating up. About time. Can you imagine if it had been members of the Oregon Socialist Party or the Oregon Islamic Association who had taken over that park building? It definitely would not have gone on this long, I imagine. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/officials-close-highway-near-oregon-community-at-center-of-wildlife-refuge-standoff-oregonian/ar-BBoKsvV?ocid=spartanntp RE: World News - Psychospacecow - 01-27-2016 I wouldn't be so certain about that. This event occurred because of a shootout with the FBI. They're still there. If this was more of an attempt to get them out, they'd be out. RE: World News - SamuraiGaiden - 01-27-2016 Well from what I read at the time this moved the FBI to begin creating a perimeter around the facility in preparation for a siege situation. Which is something they should have done weeks ago. These guys had electricity, internet, water, mail, and the ability to come and go as they pleased. The only arrest up to that point had been one guy picked up by local cops for having stolen one of the facility's vehicles and driving it in town to pick up supplies. Apparently the one who was shot and killed was LaVoy Finicum, the guy who apparently made foster children work on his ranch as his primary source of income (remember folks, if you hire them, it's child labor, but if you adopt/foster them, it's just chores ;) ). He told the media a week or so ago that he refused to go to jail and he'd rather die there. Looks like he got his wish. Now from what I've been reading today it seems like the FBI knew they were leaving this facility and basically ambushed them with a traffic stop. RE: World News - Kakariko Kid - 01-28-2016 I also heard LaVoy Finicum had his hands up? Can we riot now? RE: World News - SamuraiGaiden - 01-28-2016 One of the people in the vehicle, an 18-year old woman who was allowed to ride with them, claimed that Finicum had his hands up when he got out of the vehicle with his hands up and the cops just gunned him down. But Ammon Bundy's two bodyguards, who were also in the vehicles, both said that Finicum hopped out of the vehicle and launched himself at the cops without warning. Now the remaining people at Malheur are calling for 'patriots' to go to Oregon and kill any law enforcement that try to stop them on their way there. One of them even called for U.S. military personnel serving overseas to go AWOL and come back to Oregon to help them defend Malheur. Oh, by the way, the woman and both of Bundy's bodyguards were released after being interviewed, only Ammon and his wounded brother were arrested during that stop where Finicum was shot. RE: World News - SERIOUSLY THOUGH - 01-29-2016 http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-35435824 They've released the footage. RE: World News - Kakariko Kid - 01-29-2016 I know it's early and I'm sure MUCH of the other will disappear, but what it looks like to me is: 1. Finicum had his hands up 2. He was shot around the left side of his stomach 3. He put both hands on his wound (supposedly pulling a gun out that he reportedly left back at the other place) 4. He was shot again - in the back This country is so screwed up. I mean, someone LET Ferguson get destroyed by riots. Two completely different things to compare, but damn... RE: World News - SamuraiGaiden - 02-03-2016 http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mma/csac-suspends-ronda-rousey-coach-edmond-tarverdyan-for-falsifying-paperwork/ar-BBp2ji1?ocid=spartanntp Wow...so it looks like Rousey's mother was right, her daughter's coach really was a dirt bag. Lied on his application as cornerman and committed identify theft. When he got pulled over he refused to exit his vehicle and got tazed.
