RE: Question. - Beware of Cuccos - 06-10-2014 Sometimes there's just not much effort that needs to be put in certain subjects. I see y'all as family, and sometimes I just want to bullshit with you guys. Is that so wrong? To me, there's no bigger compliment than someone enjoying your company so much, they just want to sit around and talk about nothing with you. If you are still willing to make it, i'll stay on top of it. But others will need to help judge what could be a great thread on it's own. Something that's extremely interesting to me may not be to anyone else, and something i'm not interested in might be awesome for others. I'll keep the big eye over the whole thing though. And in the first post, just kind of lay that out- this thread is just for bullshitting with each other about things that don't need their own thread. We've got a very smart group of people here. I think everyone pretty much knows what makes a good thread, and I don't think anyone will get upset if someone replies to a post with "Hey, that sounds awesome! Please make a thread about that subject!" You are entirely correct, and that's exactly why I'm okay with the idea of the free thread to begin with. I think what Combat Lobster was saying was that there are plenty of things that get posted with no detail that could be their own quality threads but which wind up in a free thread because people aren't putting in even a slight amount of effort in their initial post and I agree, to a certain extent, with that analysis. I think most of us have enough common sense to figure out what's going on and with a little active monitoring of the thread, I'm hoping it can be used for what you want it's supposed to be and not just a dumping ground for everything in General. So, with that said, go ahead and create the thread on a provisional basis and we'll see how things go! RE: Question. - Beware of Cuccos - 06-10-2014 YASSS. RE: Question. - Petie - 06-10-2014 Just remember that if a conversation that justifies its own thread actually does start, split those posts off and move them to their own thread. That functionality is built into the moderation tools.
