RE: We need to talk about EA - CLXcool - 11-29-2017 Calling it now. They'll be gone by 2018. RE: We need to talk about EA - Psychospacecow - 11-29-2017 I don't know if they'll be gone per-say. That seems a tad extreme all things considered. RE: We need to talk about EA - CLXcool - 11-29-2017 It will be awhile, but it would be faster if they keep shooting themselves in the foot. Its only a matter of time before Disney gives the rights to Star Wars to a different studio to make the games, along with the IPS that aren't star wars that are owned by EA being bought out from other studios. RE: We need to talk about EA - RepentantSky - 11-30-2017 Take Two says Loot Boxes are not gambling, and I laughed: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2017/11/29/take-two-president-chimes-in-on-lootboxes-insists-they-39-re-quot-not-gambling-quot.aspx This is a company that said a few weeks ago, everyone of their games would have microtransactions in them, so of course this is their stance. They are trying to save their shitty and manipulative practices because everyone is so against them now. How stupid. RE: We need to talk about EA - RepentantSky - 11-30-2017 That "cannon" excuse made by Jorgensen just got a whole lot worse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klO_5L-vNSM What a fucking idiot. RE: We need to talk about EA - RepentantSky - 12-01-2017 Hawaii says getting involved with Loot Boxes with laws or legislation would be a slippery slope, and it's kind of hard to disagree: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2017/11/30/hawaii-state-legislator-regulation-could-be-a-slippery-slope.aspx They also mention here that it's not likely the industry will self regulate. This isn't really a major story, but it's a point worth bringing up. Although it's also worth mentioning that the last time the government got involved in games, it ended with the ESRB being created, which up until all this started, was a pretty good idea. RE: We need to talk about EA - Psychospacecow - 12-01-2017 Thing about the ESRB is that its different from other rating systems in that its independent of a government body. It is its own organization in the form of a non-profit. This gives The US a distinct advantage in regards to these things as companies have a more clear choice to make when it comes to whether or not they'll go through the ratings. Usually with whether or not its a PC exclusive. This also means that there's no governmental regulation in regards to these things. I'd rather have lootboxes than go through the censorship hell that is Australia or Germany. RE: We need to talk about EA - RepentantSky - 12-04-2017 EA had added to credits and crafting parts in Battlefront II, but it's not nearly enough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_7lSeijjAU RE: We need to talk about EA - RepentantSky - 12-07-2017 EA may not bring microtransactions back to Battlefront II: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_p3T4TZwz0 RE: We need to talk about EA - CLXcool - 12-08-2017 Someone dial 9-1-1. There has been a massive burn to EA at the awards show RE: We need to talk about EA - CLXcool - 12-09-2017 Its getting worse and worse for EA by the minute. Thank you wallstreet! RE: We need to talk about EA - RepentantSky - 12-20-2017 More states are pushing against Loot Boxes and it's worth hearing what they have to say about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkD6VDrkfP8&t=0s RE: We need to talk about EA - RepentantSky - 01-07-2018 EA may be working on a system that is not unlike Activision's patent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oC19cGJa-xw RE: We need to talk about EA - RepentantSky - 01-09-2018 EA might be forcing Dice and others from communicating with anyone about Battlefront II: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCQbg7mKRKk RE: We need to talk about EA - RepentantSky - 01-29-2018 Microsoft might be looking to take over EA or even Valve: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2018/01/29/rumor-microsoft-looking-at-electronic-arts-as-possible-acquisition-target.aspx Don't know about all of you, but I think taking over EA is the worst idea anyone has had in recent memory for this industry. |
