RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - Pewable - 11-07-2014 Didn't really like the final chapter... I don't even know if I like Naruto overall or not. Not as much as One Piece, that's for sure. Gonna see the final movie when I can! Is Kishimoto the one doing the story in the manga? To me, yes, but I am asking because he is not the one who made it on the movie, kind of sad that he is not the one finishing his story. Can't wait to see what he will do next. RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - retrolinkx - 11-08-2014 Got back into reading Hive since they finally updated the god damn chapters in the right order now. It's pretty long, there are about 34 chapters so far with about 60-90 pages for each chapter. It's pretty good if you guys like action, survival and a bit of sadness. RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - Psychospacecow - 11-10-2014 Guys, anime is leaking again. RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - Zaliphone - 11-15-2014 I finished Samurai Champloo and I absolutely loved it. Next on my list is Death Note. I remember in like middle school, I think, a bunch of my friends talked about it and I never watched it. I guess it's better late than never. RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - Hexadecimal - 11-20-2014 I'm really confident that I'm watching the uncut version of Dragon Ball, but sometimes you can just tell that something got lost during translation when the dialogue is wonky. I don't know if it was due to the time period of when it was dubbed, but even in the uncut English version they gave General Blue a really foppish voice, and yet decided to rework any dialogue so as not to outright say he's gay. Bulma tries telling him she's a man at one point to try and seduce him in order to save Krillian, but in the dub they had her say she was a "Sumo wrestler", which made no sense. What really tipped me off is when the animation made it clear that Blue was super attracted to a little kid (he even tries to kiss him), but the dialogue had him talking about how he's mistaking this kid for his long lost brother Samuel. It was just too obvious by what was going on that it didn't fit. I understand implying General Blue is a pedophile could be an issue, but it's weird that they altered his scene with Bulma. Too bad they can't go back and re-voice the scenes to make them true to the original. If Garter Belt can clearly be attracted to Brief and be a pedophile priest, then General Blue shouldn't be a problem nowadays. If you liked Samurai Champloo then check out the brilliant master piece that is Cowboy Bebop. Also directed by ShinichirÅ Watanabe and was really the anime that put him into the spotlight. I could go on and on about how good it is but Bennett The Sage does a great run down on it. What's more, the incredible soundtrack of Samurai Champloo was created and specifically designed by Nujabes. His music is and sampling is incredible. Emotional would be a word to describe it. R.I.P Nujabes. Shing02 is the singer for the opening of Samurai Champloo. I have a very short Anime that's currently on-going some may like. Fair enough I'm not a regular in this thread but I found this Anime to actually be funny and the characters quite interesting. Each episode is 10 minutes long and dedicated to a different SEGA game scenario(Sometimes crossing into another episode). It's only 6 episode in but since it's short, it's something to watch in a short amount of time. Hi sCoool: Sega Hard Girls Psst Hex' Episode 4 and 5 is dedicated to Space Channel 5 RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - Zaliphone - 11-21-2014 I completely fell in love with the soundtrack of Samurai Champloo, it's pretty much my default now when I want to listen to music. And Cowboy Bebop is fantastic. It was what got me back into anime earlier this year. The only reason I even heard of Samurai Champloo was because I saw it on ShinichirÅ Watanabe's wikipedia page. RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - Mass Distraction - 11-21-2014 Naruto still isn't completely over: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-11-19/masashi-kishimoto-to-start-work-on-next-title-after-naruto-after-next-summer/.81192 RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - retrolinkx - 11-22-2014 (11-21-2014, 08:02 AM)Zaliphone Wrote: I completely fell in love with the soundtrack of Samurai Champloo, it's pretty much my default now when I want to listen to music. You should check out Nujabes then, he did the music for SC, and it's pretty fucking rad. RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - MrMako - 12-01-2014 'm not the biggest anime guy but I like quite a few shows, and I've been tryna branch out more recently. Since Rising came out earlier this year, I rewatched Hajime no Ippo all the way through again. Still my favorite anime ever. Still tryna get caught up with the manga though >.> Also picked up Space Dandy recently and I'm lovin' it. Friend also wants me'da see Psycho Pass and Durarara!! so I'll be startin' those in a sec. RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - Hexadecimal - 12-03-2014 I'm super pissed because Viz screwed up the Sailor Moon re-release. There's a ridiculous amount of picture issues that barely make it worth replacing my ADV DVDs since the new dub is so horrific. It's honestly bad enough to justify a recall, but they just said "We'll take that into consideration on further releases". Fuck you. I want the version the Italians got. RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - Zaliphone - 12-05-2014 I'm watching the episode of Naruto where they try to see what's under Kakashi's mask and it's surprisingly good. I honestly thought that I was just looking at it with nostalgia, but damn, it's legitimately comedic. RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - Hexadecimal - 12-05-2014 Gainex is super mean; they were just joking whenever they hinted at a new season of Panty and Stocking with Garter Belt. It was disgusting and beyond immature, but for some reason I just really enjoyed it. Reminds me that I have to see if they ever made a second season of Nyan Koi. It was about a boy who accidentally pissed off a cat god by breaking a statue. If he doesn't do 100 good deeds for cats, and get it done promptly, he will turn into a cat. Problem is, he's super allergic to them. Even worse is that his allergy stays during those moments when he starts to turn and going full fledged cat will kill him. Oh, it's also a harem anime. But it's the cat stuff that really matters ;p RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - Mass Distraction - 12-06-2014 (12-05-2014, 07:51 PM)Hexadecimal Wrote: Reminds me that I have to see if they ever made a second season of Nyan Koi. Another anime to my neverending list of things to watch... RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - retrolinkx - 12-13-2014 I need to stop getting into weird manga's and anime's. Here's one about a guy who for some reason, tasted the drool of a girl who was sleeping on a desk, a couple of weeks later he became ill and she went to go see him to tell him that he has to keep tasting her droll or he'll get a fever and go into withdrawal. |
