RE: Favorite cartoons & cartoon talk - retrolinkx - 05-15-2015 You know, looking back at old cartoons you never really notice how lewd or sexual they are until you become older, and you get some of the jokes your missed the first time round. I mean, take Totally Spies. I watched that as a kid, it was a great action show that had interesting gadgets every week, an interesting plot and was usually on before Pokemon, so you sort of had to bring yourself to like it to pass the time. Looking at it now, it's mainly about three tall women wearing spandex going around doing incredibly girly things and usually fight by doing gymnastic moves they learnt from their cheerleading and, well, you get the idea... I wonder if there is an ulterior motive of all this is by the creators and animators? Well actually, I believe Totally Spies was made by the French, and they sort of get a pass on this for Lewd cartoons (Wakfu) and cartoons that don't make a lick of sense (about 90% of the other cartoons), but still, there are just some things that seem like they really shouldn't have passed the "It's a show for kids" test but somehow did. Also, it's nice to see you back, Hex. RE: Favorite cartoons & cartoon talk - Psychospacecow - 05-16-2015 This isn't a good assumption to make I suppose, but I always figured there was someone who worked in animation only because of "ulterior motives" and was a big fan of "ulterior fan art". RE: Favorite cartoons & cartoon talk - CLXcool - 05-17-2015 Retro, that's parental bonus for ya. RE: Favorite cartoons & cartoon talk - Mass Distraction - 06-14-2015 Dr. Who is now unofficially a character in Friendship is Magic. My inner fanboy is crying. And Derpy speaks again(except that she's credited as 'muffins' in the credits) that aside. I felt so happy. RE: Favorite cartoons & cartoon talk - retrolinkx - 06-14-2015 Anything MLP touches usually ruins it one way or another. And I'm not just talking about what the show does, I'm talking about all that fan art and crossovers and shit. I mean, there's even a fucking Half Life Opposing Force pony cover. I don't know if the internet will recover because people are still going to think watching a children's show for girls is cool and that everyone does it for years to come. RE: Favorite cartoons & cartoon talk - CLXcool - 06-14-2015 I am catching up on Swat Kats. My god its still good. And to think Ted turner was completely stupid to cancel this masterpiece over that shit that is 'going green' captain planet. You're telling me that the Powerpuff Girls, Kim Possible, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Totally Spies are not cool? My childhood is a lie!!!!! Seriously, I've been watching girl shows since I was little, so I see nothing wrong with the show. I've seen a few episodes and it's a good show, but I'm not a fan. The problem is more with the very forceful fans and the very forceful haters. I can't like it due to the haters complaining and I can't hate it due to the fans complaining. The sooner we reilise that it's just a well writen (for the most part) cartoon, the sooner I can stop shaking my head at both sides. RE: Favorite cartoons & cartoon talk - Furo - 06-14-2015 Retro summed up my opinion well, really. I see, and do you go online and butcher games, comics, and other shows by making Powerpuff girl mods for Skyrim that focus 100% on making sure they have perfect anatomy and shape? Do you read fan fiction of Powerpuff girls, Totally Spies and all that along with crossovers from Dr. Who and Sherlock and other trendy peeps? Watching shows for girls and doing retarded shit like that are two different things. I used to watch all those shows, but there are many factors that divide the people who watch shows like Powerpuff Girls, Kim Possible, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Totally Spies, and the people who watch My Little Pony. Mainly furries have taken over the fandom and infested it in a horrible horrible way (very much like Sonic, but Sonic is still redeemable) I get that the logic is flawed, but I explained it in a very basic way. There is a point where you can watch something, enjoy it and discuss it, and then there is a point where you push your fandom onto other people, start referring to yourself as a "brony" and using terms like "bro hoof" and all that crap, start putting your ponies into fucking pictures of Nazi's forcing Jewish people out of their homes into camps and thinking this is an acceptable thing to do. Then a problem occurs from watching a show like this. Seriously. A lot of fandoms have these bad points, (Pokemon, Sonic, Mario) but MLP just takes the cake for just infesting everything it touches and making it horrible in hundreds of ways. /rant RE: Favorite cartoons & cartoon talk - Psychospacecow - 06-14-2015 (06-14-2015, 01:02 PM)CLXcool Wrote: I am catching up on Swat Kats. Now I have to deal with whether or not the heart ring or a jet is more powerful. Ironically, planet had an episode about aids and he seemed okay with that happening. But not the action that was happening in Swat Kats.(06-14-2015, 01:02 PM)CLXcool Wrote: I am catching up on Swat Kats. My god its still good. The 90s were a dark time. RE: Favorite cartoons & cartoon talk - CLXcool - 06-14-2015 I think there was even a minor controversy about that episode of Planet with Aids. |
