I mean, it's not surprise. There are like no games out on any systems right now that are worth a damn, but then 2017 came around and gave us tons of good games and it keeps on giving.
Nier sold well because it's one of the ten or so games you should buy a console for if your PC can't handle it, much like how The Witcher 3 became so big, it was released on consoles that have no games and became a smash hit.
I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the iterations of games on current gen consoles get more sales.

I mean, even considering everything you have mentioned, the fact that a game became the third best selling videogame in a company's history in less that a year is quite impressive on it's own. Specially considering Nier: Automata is an spin-off of another spin-off of a franchise that is considered pretty damn niche.
"oh, it's a pretty good game, so it's no surprise it sold well".
There are many great games out there that sold pretty badly for a variety of reasons. Sorry but that specific argument doesn't hold much water.

That said, unless an overreaction to this outdated blog guideline can actually be taken seriously and count as an excuse for them to take any kind of action against people who don't follow it, it's not gonna mean anything. Atlus will catch endless hell since this is being done so poorly. I doubt much will come of it, and if it does, It's Atlus that's gonna end up in trouble because no one is going to side with them.

Twitch and Youtube are complying to this. So if someone says "Screw the police" and plays it regardless they can have them shut down because of it.
But there are hopes in Atlus changing their mind despite 6 months of them strangulating the JP community of it.

I'm okay with the police thing. Mainly since a good portion of people who say it will also be the ones to call the cops for help asap if something happens. You can't say F - the police and yet rely on them at the same time.

I'm curious as to how this will turn out. Either G2A makes the attempt to be legitimate or they lose a AAA partnership. Either way Gearbox is showing they will not buckle.
This has basically improved my view of Gearbox and has, theoretically, repaired the bridge.

As I have said in the past, trademarking and patents were intended to keep specific inventions and company names from being stolen, not to create a monopoly on a widespread idea like a finishing move or a Let's Play.

As much as I liked Jontron. I really don't like his political views. I wasn't even aware Jontron was apart of Yooka Laylee. He could've still been in the game, if he kept his mouth shut about the political stuff. And all of his racist 'fanboys' are defending him because of free speech. Guess what. Racist comments are never cool. This should be a lesson to Jontron, you cannot have nice things if you share with the world what shouldn't be said.
