Clichés in Video Games you love. - retrolinkx - 12-16-2013

One I real love is when you're fighting a huge onslaught of enemies and it's going really badly and you're about to lose the battle, and you finds/equips a minigun/lmg and shoots the fuck out of everyone, followed by amazing fucking vidya music.

I even do this in games where this can never happen. I used to do this in GTA5 all the time whenever I was doing a heist.

Another, is breaking the fourth wall. Seriously, I never expect it and it's always one of the scariest things in games.

Oh, and when you're nearing the final battle of a game, and people who you have come across over the whole game come to help you, even enemies.

My favourite cliché out of them all is when the weakest character or a weak characters has to take on the strongest character and they still win.

I love it in any media, Vidya, Anime, even books if I'm into it.

Scary? Is the only games you played that has this Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil? Most of the fourth wall brakes are funny and played for laughs.

As for me, I like the moments were you get to take out an army of dudes all by yourself. Makes you feel like a badass EX. Battle of 1000 Heartless from Kingdom Hearts II.

I may not be a fan of scary games, but damn it, those two times are the few times a game has scared me so much.

I like a cliche were one of your friends/allies/etc becomes a boss of the game.

Example: Syphon Filter 2's final boss.

The cliche of suddenly getting a super power at the final boss stage, making everything up to that point a mute point. (Is that how its spelled?)

I also like the opposite of this, where a previous boss becomes your ally.

I think it happened in Sly Cooper 3 where King Panda came back to help Sly and his gang.

As well as Dimitri, but since he only gets like two playable levels, I can see why you would forget about him.

The whole of Final Mission in Metal Slug 3 is one of my favorite moments in gaming.

Resident Evil? Since when have those games broken the fourth wall, let alone been scary at that?

The hell just happened?! For some reason the YT player refused to work on this site so I went to the actual page to watch the video. After a while the voices started to echo and I thought it was the video just being messy but no, the video on this page had started to play, sound only, yet it was still showing that "video error" message on it and I had to refresh the page to get rid of it.

Magus from Chrono Trigger also.

Granted, that's not very scary, but that forth wall is still being shot at.

Oh, that thing. I've always had in my head that the static camera angles are like security camera footage or something so I never even associated the screen shooting with the 4th wall.

When awesome music kicks in during a scene (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance)
Boobs (Tifa and Ivy)
Breaking the fourth wall is pretty good too.
Deadpool in UMvC3 comes to mind
Taunts/Intros

Or beating you with the Health/Hyper bar

Now hold on, that's not a cliche, that's anatomy.

Impossibly large ones that are left primarily uncovered is very cliche to me....
And I love the pervert character.

I'd apply that more to anime, but I see this point.
