Ecco+Pink Floyd=Aliens? - CosmykTheDolfyn - 01-15-2014 So, anyways, Ed Annunziata, had directly stated that Pink Floyd served as an inspiration for the game's music. http://www.gamingfurever.com/editorials/727-sef-s-interview-with-ed-annunziata-game-designer-of-ecco-the-dolphin However, it seems that some sly little tributes to Floyd may have been snuck in. I have never seen anyone directly stating that these are tributes to Pink Floyd, but I highly doubt that this was a coincidence, due to the quote that Pink Floyd served as an inspiration for this game. The level "Welcome to the Machine" comes from the Pink Floyd song Welcome to the Machine. Check out a mashup here: In the next Ecco game, Ecco: The Tides of Time, features a level "New Machine", which may be a reference to the Pink Floyd song "A New Machine". Ecco's name may be a reference to another famous Pink Floyd song, Echos. I know this is all speculation, but the fact that the lead designer says Pink Floyd served as an inspiration to this game leads me to believe that these events are not coincidences. |
