Please provide a reason for the requested name change (by editing this post - feel free to PM me once it's done). Additionally, including < and > in the username may cause unexpected issues so I'd rather avoid it if possible. We can try it but it may not stick.

Sorry for the reply post that is not a request change per your first post Petie. Please correct any misunderstanding on my part or feel free to add to it. I'm always trying to learn something.
Depending on the software and programming language 'ole Petie uses, the effects vary. For example, let's say Petie uses the same software that Wikipedia uses; putting your name between the < and > could cause the name to vanish because the software that Wikipedia uses does not recognize < and > (I forgot to copy the link on Wiki where I read that).
Check out https://code.org/learn and https://hourofcode.com/us. I haven't done this yet, but I here it is interesting.
If you want to kill some time, Google: Java, ASCII, and C++. There will be many cross-references to other types of programming language also. It's mostly Greek to me, but I find it interesting.
You're kind of on the right track. Chevrons (the actual name for < and >) are the tag markers for HTML and the PHP on the site strips out HTML from submissions so there's a chance it would break with a username that was basically an invalid HTML tag. If there's interest in this discussion, we can move it to a separate thread and also regain the no non-requests in this thread while we're at it!

The reason for it? My current username is pretty lame, is just "Space Jockey" but with a Z instead of a S. That's so original....
