The Smurfs - RadSpyro - 02-10-2014 The Smurfs was released for the Master System, MegaDrive, MegaCD, SNES, NES, Gameboy, Game Gear and PC in 1995. The MegaDrive (or Genesis if you prefer), MegaCD, SNES and PC versions were essentially the same game. The NES, Master System, Gameboy and Game Gear versions used different sprites and the levels were changed due to limitations. Now onto the trivia. First, a minor bit of trivia, backed up by TCRF here: http://tcrf.net/The_Smurfs_%28SNES%29 It is possible to unlock a debug menu in the game. In the debug, you can access any level except the bonus stages (even though their names can be found in the ROM with the rest of the level names). In 2002, the game was re-released under the title of Revenge of the Smurfs. The game was a re-release of the MD/MCD/SNES/PC version of the game. Several things were changed to make the game 'easier', though the levels and bosses remained the same. The two exceptions to this rule are the 'Mine' and 'Descent' levels. Instead of re-using the same levels, they were revamped entirely to match the other versions of the game, even going so far as to make new sprites for the Descent level.
