I always pick the best times to tune in! They were down to just "Bird Jesus" with only 16 HP when they entered Fuchsia City. Instead of healing they entered the gym, fought a trainer, got poisoned, and black out. Back to Lavender Town!

They actually did deposit him once when they tried to get the accidentally deposited Pidgeot back.
