Question: Why the fuck are they making the movie? Yeah the location is a good choice for any fantasy movie, and there certainly are a lot of good names for actors in the movie like Robert Redford.

However, I shall ask again; WHY THE FUCK ARE THEY MAKING THIS FILM?

Hopefully they get Weta Digital onboard so the Elliot will be a decent dragon (although nothing can replace the first one. Really all they need is a decent cartoonist and no need for a crappy CGI cardboard version of the original animated Elliot).

What's getting to me is that it's just another Fern Gully rip-off with probably a touch of the Lorax. IT DOESN'T EVEN SOUND LIKE THE GOGANS ARE IN IT.

I noticed that too. The original had nothing to do with environmental issues at all! I get if they want to make a modern day telling of Pete's Dragon but you can still have him be an orphan who needs Elliot to help him while he grows up without the Fern Gully/Lorax/Avatar kinda of story. God, some days I think movie makers are really lazy when it comes to writing stories. They can make awesome sets, cool SFX or CGI creatures but if there is no good story to tie it together who gives a shit.

A lot of people, apparently. Just look at the Resident Evil movie series.

My point exactly. First two movies are loosely tied into the games spanning the first 3 but then they just said "Fuck it, who needs to stay true to the game's narrative? I'll make my own and it shall be awesome!" and the world is still waiting for that to happen.

More than the resident evil movies. Try telling this to Michael bay and he'll tell you that you can't have a movie without having an explosion happen every five seconds.

Yet his movies are still better than all of Paul W.S. Anderson and Uwe Boll's put together.

Jurassic World Trailer.
Pretty exciting.

It's been a while. I mean, I still have the original trilogy on VHS.

RE: At the Movies! - CLXcool - 12-17-2014

So The Interview is getting banned from theaters. I can't say I'm surprised about that. The premise and the trailers of it made it scream 'banned' material.

RE: At the Movies! - Psychospacecow - 12-17-2014

Really disappointing. By doing that, they're basically saying that any and all media is subject to terrorist demands.

RE: At the Movies! - CLXcool - 12-17-2014

I'm more concerned about the lives on the innocent than some joker making a film that has the term crossed the line written all over it
