Apparently there was an animated film called "Leo the Lion" that was going to be released in 2013, but was quietly scrapped and released on Netflix recently.
I can definetely see why.

I saw Lego Batman today. I enjoyed it a lot more than I should've. It really felt like watching something good with Batman for once that wasn't all 'dark and edgy' that DC comics has been spewing out a lot lately.

Went to see John Wick 2 with my dad this past week. We also saw the first one and I felt that it was just an alright action movie (in spite of the massive circlejerk of it being the bestest movie in years), and the Second one is honestly everything the first one was cracked up to be.
The action was phenomenal, a lot of fight scenes were super creative, the set pieces were gorgeous and, honestly, the story was really engaging. It still has problems, don't get me wrong, like Keanu's serious monologue sounds absurdly goofy, and there were some audio/editing issues where you'd hear people screaming or going crazy and the on screen extras were just walking around like nothing was happening, but all in all it was a great movie.

Terry Gilliam's Don Quixote is now( officially) in production
I've seen this been announced time and time again. Only for this to get back into development hell. Now its finally happening. I'll believe it when there's a trailer for this.

Just finished watching The Arrival.
I liked it, one of my favorite aspects of the film was that the director didn't needed used an armed conflict between the humans and aliens in order to keep the audience invested. Each time our characters interact with the aliens, who remain covered in mist for most of the screen time, we as the audience gain something new in the form of knowledge and discovery rather than an action set piece like we are accustomed to.
In other words (spoilers?), unlike in most movies where the aliens come to do harm and invade us, these specific aliens are benevolent beings who want to help humanity, because they believe the humans might help them in return in the next hundred years.
The characters are another strong point, they are not treated as cliché plot devices but are just real people who just want answers to this situation. Another strong point is how the movie handles the subject of language and how it can actually affect the way we see the world.
Happy 10th anniversary to Zack Snyder's 300! Just found out the movie is based off a comic book.

SO...I was able to watch Creed, the spinoff movie to the Rocky series... Boy, was that an emotional ride,like shoot, having watch Rocky Balboa my whole life and watching him lay some pretty heavy stuff about death and what life meant for him at such an old age with no one around him anymore. I didn't expect this from Sylvester Stallone and I teared up a bit.

I remember reading some of the books when I was young. I was a bit surprised that an animated series didn't happen when the books were popular. From the looks of the trailer. They're taking elements from the first, second, and 4th book for this. You wanna know whats even better? This actually LOOKS and MOVES like a cartoon compared to most of the animated features Dreamworks has made.

I wonder how they are going to factor the Flip-o-Rama portion of the books, as those were my favorite parts.
Honestly, I'very been skeptical with DreamWorks and Kevin Hart is what is irking me about this movie.

So.... a lot of commenters have been criticizing Algerian actrees Sofia Boutella for not being "dark enough" to play the eponymous ancient Egyptian character of The Mummy.

These commenters are nothing but a bunch of fools for a number of reasons:
- Like some people have pointed out, Sofia is from Algeria which is next to Egypt. Both countries are obviously located in Africa (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1154749/). LOL at the guy who says she is Russian.
- The term 'Arab' doens't refer to a race, but to a pan-ethnic group.
- Sofia is fairly dark herself (she is wearing make-up in the picture above)
- Egyptians thenselves weren't/aren't neither black or white.
Or here, brown people fighting black people, guess who the Egyptians and who the Nubians are.

^I pretty much ignore anybody that complains about casting in a movie. Most people don't do research on a character before bitching about them. This guy is white, the movie is racist even though the move takes place in Iceland. You can complain about casting all you want, just remember that Heimdallr, the "Whitest of the Gods" in Asgard, was played by Idris Elba and he did a good job doing it.
