Quite frankly, the news only really affects Hollywood and with the treatment of movie theatre chains, which is much more alarming.

Oh sure, because it's not like competition makes content producers strive to do better or anything....

The U.S entertaiment industry needs strong anti-thrust laws, because otherwise we are going to reach a point in which Disney and Warner are going to be the only names in town.

EDIT: Also, saying "I could care less" implies that you still care, even if just a little. The correct form is "I COULDN'T care less".

No one in my friend group has seen Simon Birch and I'm wondering if it would be too cruel to show it to them.

RE: At the Movies! - ZpaceJ0ck0 - 12-19-2017

So yesterday I saw the Justice League movie.

I thought it was... ok. Sure, it was entertaining, so there's that. Some characters were place correctly for the most part, especially Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Other characters like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, Lois Lane, Hyppolyta, and the Amazon warriors? Not really. Both Wonder Woman and Aquaman felt like pieces of cardboard. And Cyborg felt underdevolep. Hopefully they will fix this with the upcoming solo films of the League menbers. To give characters the devlopment they didn't have in this film.

The cinematography was decent at best, nothing too new when it comes to the DCCU.

Oh yeah, I'm gonna watch Wonder Woman tonight.

Ey just saw Star Wars 8, which is a series number only terrible slasher flicks and pornos get too. After not liking 7 all that much and hating rogue one more than maybe any movie I've ever seen.

That didn't end up happening. My friend who was going to give me his DVD copy of the film coulnd't delivery it because yesterday was his sister's birthday and thus he forgot about the DVD. Maybe next time.

So I just finished watching John Carpenter's Escape from New York.

First of all, I should state that calling this film a action film akin to comtenporary examples of the genre (e.g Terminator, Rambo, Predator, etc) would be disservice to first time watchers, since the action in this film is rather minimal, instead focusing on building up the feeling of a race against time.

Lead actor Kurt Russel did an excellent job as Snake Plissken, who much like a real snake watches and strikes when he is ready; with speed and impact. Russell is able to say a lot with little dialogue, through his body language and facial expressions.
The supporting cast did a really good job as well, including Adrienne Barbeau and Harry Dean Stanton as Maggie and Brian, who have some nice chenistry on-set, and Issac Hayes as The Duke.

So... Umm... Yeah...

Can I even say anything about this when the poster says it all?

Everyday we stray further away from God's light.

Have we seen footage of this film so far? It could be a character render of a younger version of him for flashbacks or such if not. Give him a bit more motivation than being sick of his neighbors playing loud music and being happy.

I checked and there is none. Still, I REALLY don't like picturing how the style is going to be just going by this promo image.

Besides... Do we really need another stab at a Grinch movie?

Looks pretty typical to me. I find the best approach with these things is to go "meh" or optimistic and move on because I remember the ones I really dislike.

And yes we did. [Image: How_the_Grinch_Stole_Christmas_film_poster.jpg]

If for no other reason than to make that ^ less relevant.

RE: At the Movies! - ZpaceJ0ck0 - 12-23-2017

I watched Moana yesterday.

While is true that I found the pacing to be weird and the ending was quite lackluster, it was still a fun ride overall. The strongest point of this movie being the characters, specially the eponymous Moana.

Oh yeah, and make sure to stay for the credits.

Speaking of 3d Disney movies, has anyone seen Fozen and tangled? Are they any good?

Frozen and Tangled are a hoot. Would recommend.

RE: At the Movies! - Hexadecimal - 12-23-2017

Frozen is, in my opinion, one of the the worst movies Disney has ever made but I LOVE Tangled.

RE: At the Movies! - Psychospacecow - 12-23-2017

Tangled is pretty legit. The best character is the princess which is kinda rare by Disney standards.

I haven't seen Frozen. Its pretty well received, and the hype that exists as a result means its got a lot of negative press from people being tired of hearing about it. If you've got access to it and want to take the time, I'd watch it. This from someone who hasn't seen it.
