South park: Stick of truth discussion - CLXcool - 03-04-2014

Who has bought the stick of truth? I know I've just made the purchase of it today. After countless delays, the South park video game that has been long awaited, is finally released. The Stick...of Truth. Thank god it didn't pull a 'duke nukem forever' on all of us.

I wont spoil anything, but the beginning cinematic intro has a badass animated fantasy sequence(influenced by Ralph Bakshi and Lord of the rings). Which was pretty amazing.

I dislike how our Australian government decides that even with an R18+ rating, they still decide to censor the Anal Probing scene, and unlike the the EU release where it's uncensored in the PC version, It's censored on all platforms.

FUCKA YOUUU AUSTRARIAN GOVUMENT!

I wouldn't say sometimes.

Anyway, I've heard this game plays a lot like the mario rpg. Can anyone confirm?

Apparently YouTube doesn't allow live streaming of this game. Screwattack's Out of the Box episode on this was deleted from YT mid episode during the stream.

I'm only in the beginning part of the game(class thief if anyone is wondering) and yes. The gameplay has been taking pointers from Mario RPG. Although. I'll let you be the judge of that with this

I think it looks good visually and I'm definitely a fan of South Park's humor, but I probably won't be getting this because I am not a fan of the gameplay. I've never liked active battle systems in turn-based games.

That's what Steam sales are made for. Just wait for it to go down in prize and check it out when it fits your budget.

That's what I'm going to do, at least.

I've never played a game with a turn-based system, but man this game is so much fun. I really recommend it.

Has anyone gotten into the school area yet? Not the part where you have to get Craig out, the part where you recruit the goth kids and venture inside the school to get the stick of truth from Cartman. Having trouble getting past a wall to get into the school hallway. Anyone figured this out?

RE: South park: Stick of truth discussion - Xannidel - 03-12-2014

Describe the room, I beat that area myself earlier today.

*edit*

So here is what I have found out from playing 10+ hours so far. This game...Is...Amazing. I have been non stop smilling and laughing throughout the entire game. I had to stop in one very particular fight due to a QTE that I was just laughing too hard at. This game is gold, anyone who loves crude humor, South Park's way of not giving a crap about WHO or WHAT they insult and also fart humor, needs to get this game. The battles are turn based similar to Paper Mario 64 and Paper Mario: TYOD. The only thing I am a tad upset about is that you can't switch to your pal to let them go first but oh well a small complaint. The description for some weapons and gear, hell even the JUNK items, is worth looking through to see if you can tell where that item came from, like what episode. The characters are all spot on, thank you Matt and Trey for your hard work, and even the classes themselves are a lot of fun to play with their own playstyle. Also another gripe, REGARDLESS of your class, you can equip ANY weapon you want. I know people probably do not care but if I am playing a rogue then I feel REALLY awkward carrying a two handed mace around. Also I have noticed some bugs and the game did freeze for me once but the quicksave, thankfully, saved my place. I am sure some patches will be released within the upcoming months to fix said bugs but just letting you all know that there are some bugs around.

Any questions, PM me or reply here and I will answer to the best of my ability.

Xannidel, that won't be needed. I managed to figure out how to get past the wall in the cafeteria(just had to unleash a fart on the flames to blow up the wall). I managed to get through the game and beaten it two days ago. It was fan freaking tastic. It had a great climax, as well as a great final boss. It was challenging(I'd suggest you guys should level up a bit before facing the final boss, it was a bit hard for me since there were things I was not expecting).

I will tell you guys this. The new kid has a name that is revealed at the close to the end. And he does speak
. The game was incredible fun. One of the best RPG games I've ever played. Since I finished as a thief, I might play it again with a different class rank. I dont see the chance of a sequel happening, but it would be great to see a sequel to the stick of truth.
