Why the hell did they cancel it last I heard the Rune factory series sold pretty damn well in EU and over here in Australia so what the hell?

Localization costs maybe? I haven't the slightest idea.

It's funny the week has just started and I can tell it's going to be a bad one, oh well that's one game on my 'got to get when it comes out list' gone....hopefully it does get a EU/AUS release but not likely

I won Rune Factory Frontier for the Wii. It's a fun game, but I wouldn't exactly call any of them a "must have". If it never gets shipped to Europe, it's only going to anger a group of very small hardcore fans, and if Marvelous AQL doesn't see much of a market in Europe/Australia based on past sales, why waste money?

Generally because, a small market - is a still a market. Same with Xenoblade Chronicles/Operation Rainfall. Europe got it first followed by America, only after a petition.
In the case of the Rune Ractory, the game is already in English so the should release it regardless. This is slightly off topic, but this also falls on Nintendo for not making the 3DS region free. You wouldn't have to localise the game if people who cared about it are the ones who would be willing to import it.
