Why the devil are there two USB thingies ?

In case you want to have more storage on two computers?

RE: The Chit-Chat Thread - Combat Lobster - 09-28-2013

I assume it's used to transfer data from/to two ports instead of one.

If I had to guess, I would say it's so that you can transfer with 2 ports rather than just one, making the process faster.

I ain't so technical so I don't know if good luck'd be a good phrasing for this, but thanks for working on the speed Petie.

It's actually for powering the drive. A single USB port can only supply a certain amount of current and some higher power devices require more than one port can give it, hence these mutant cables.

"Good luck" is completely appropriate for this endeavor so thanks! Things are going well but it will still be a while yet.

Well it turns out there's such a thing as "pseudoscorpions". I got a good fright when a bloody scorpion surged from the mushrooms we had been picking. Still, I'm glad the Alps haven't become infested with the buggers !
