So Next Level games was working on a Metroid game - CLXcool - 09-07-2014 http://nintendo-online.de/news/18298/luigis-mansion-2-entwickler-next-level-games-arbeitete-offenbar-an-metroid-prototyp translation Quote:The Canadian studio Next Level Games is Nintendo fans especially thanks to the first Luigi's Mansion 2 a term. From the Iwata Asks interview about the game, it appeared that the studio had originally developed the prototype of another Nintendo game. But suddenly have the Canadians on Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe Luigi's Mansion 2 set. The prototype has been canceled. So Next Level Games(Luigi's Mansion Dark Moons) was at one point working on a pitch for the Metroid series. But it ended up being scrapped. I don't know a whole lot about this apart from the fact that it would have been likely made for the 3DS. You guys think Retro studios picked up where Next Level games left off from this? RE: So Next Level games was working on a Metroid game - retrolinkx - 09-07-2014 Weird, I'm listening to this just as I saw the thread. Nintendo are a bit weird with this kind of stuff, I mean they cancelled Mario 128 to make Pikmin if memory servers, so you never know what we could be getting with this kind of stuff. I really liked 2D metroids over 3D since I feel as 3D ones are a bit harder and never tried to complete any, but a 3DS Metroid would be a good addition to the 3DS. I hope one for the Wii U is made too, we could have some beautiful planets to explore using the Wii U's hardware. RE: So Next Level games was working on a Metroid game - gamemaster1991 - 09-07-2014 If you know Metroid like I do, you would know that Metroid is not a money maker and Nintendo really does not like that, to the point that they really don't want to make a game for it any more (which is why the last few games have been out sourced to different studios). Even the much beloved and "perfect in every way" Super Metriod did not sell as much as you would expect. So it really does not surprise me that Nintendo would ask them to drop the new Metriod for a Mario/Luigi game, which they know the fan boys would eat up like hot cakes. RE: So Next Level games was working on a Metroid game - CLXcool - 09-07-2014 I know my brothers are fans of the Metroid series. If they ever do get around to making it for the Wii U. I would like to see them try to do something with the 2D aspects in terms of gameplay. While at times jumping into the 2.5 2D type of gameplay like we have seen in Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. RE: So Next Level games was working on a Metroid game - Psychospacecow - 09-07-2014 Could even have it segmented depending on the form Samus was in at the time, of course now we're coming up with a concept. lol RE: So Next Level games was working on a Metroid game - Carlos - 09-07-2014 (09-07-2014, 11:27 AM)CLXcool Wrote: I know my brothers are fans of the Metroid series. Something like Super Paper Mario I guess. 2D in certain parts of gameplay, 3D for other parts. I'm not holding my breathe about Next Level doing a Metroid game, Retro probably is likely going to do one sometime in the future(considering that there's an easter egg of Samus's ship in Tropical Freeze).(09-07-2014, 11:27 AM)CLXcool Wrote: I know my brothers are fans of the Metroid series. Would you mind showing me that? That's pretty cool.
