Laptop Repair - TheTrueBoss997 - 10-31-2014 So my laptop has encountered a serious problem, the screen part is destroyed. It's an amazing laptop and it cost me a lot of money so I need to find a way to get it to work again. Everything still works, I just need to know if the screen part can be fixed or replaced. If I can do that then where could I get that done. RE: Laptop Repair - Psychospacecow - 10-31-2014 I honestly couldn't tell you the process as I don't know it, but I know someone who's done it before. http://www.microcenter.com/site/content/laptop-screen-repair.aspx There's also this. RE: Laptop Repair - Petie - 10-31-2014 Generally, you can't repair a screen but you can replace it. Unfortunately, the screen is often the most expensive component of a laptop. If you need it to continue functioning as a laptop, be prepared to spend some money. If you just need it to continue worming though, consider grabbing a mouse, keyboard, and normal monitor and converting it into a desktop. I can't speak for MicroCenter's service but they are a good store so they may be able to do something for you if you have one near you. It's certainly worth looking into though. Okay this option sounds like a good idea. How would I convert it to a desktop and will it mess anything up? Also regrading my screen, it's still fully functional it's just that the screen is very close to disconnecting from the other part and it's impossible for me to put it back in, so would it cost cheaper just to put it back in and secure it in it's place? RE: Laptop Repair - Petie - 10-31-2014 There's not much to converting it. Basically, fully remove the screen, plug in an external monitor, mouse, and keyboard, and use it as you would a normal desktop. As for fixing it, it's hard to say. Depending on how badly damaged it is (and what, in particular, is damaged), it might be simple or it might require replacement of the entire screen or hinge mechanism. Some pictures might help but that's something easier diagnosed in person. RE: Laptop Repair - TheTrueBoss997 - 11-01-2014 Okay thanks guys for the help, I'm probably gonna have it get checked out and see if it will cost a lot for it to be repaired. If it does then I'm better off converting it into a desktop. |
