Designing a fantasy strategy game unit - Psychospacecow - 11-30-2014

This isn't going to go anywhere, but I'm just looking for some ideas for stuff to draw.

So , I've been toying around with the idea of a fantasy strategy game for a while now. I'm leaning more towards a jrpg style with this (see Fire Emblem) so there's that. I honestly don't have any way on acting on that, but I digress. This is just for fun.

Anyway, if you wanna throw your hat in the ring, you just gotta give me an idea for something sorta unique from a fantasy standpoint.

For example, I thought of something called a "Wyrmeer" (as in a falconer for wyrms).
It would be a unit that carries around the pug equivalent of a dragon on his person, and feeds it different things as a variety in weapons. Think of this guy as a support/ranged specialist. Since he needs to carry around a dragon, he's pretty slow. So, he's naturally best set in roles where he is either behind the main line or fortified in a safe position.

I'd say if I were to add an interesting character, I'd go with archers that are similar to Mech units in Advance Wars instead of having them use normal arrows, they could attach an explosive tip and it does more damage people in a 5 square plus shaped area, but they move at a slower pace to archers.
