Gen V's Pokemon Numbers - Takahashi2212 - 12-21-2014 Generation V (Black & White 1/2) is the only Generation of Pokemon (so far) to introduce more Pokemon than the original amount found in Red/Blue (151). Here are the numbers for Each generation: Red & Blue: 151 Total Pokemon Gold & Silver: 251 Total Pokemon, 100 New Pokemon added. Ruby & Sapphire: 386 Total Pokemon, 135 New Pokemon added. Diamond & Pearl: 493 Total Pokemon, 107 Pokemon added. Black & White: 649 Total Pokemon, 156 Pokemon added. X & Y: 709 Total Pokemon, 70 Pokemon Added. Also, a thing worth noting is that Gen V was the first Generation to not add a pre-evolution/evolution to an existing Pokemon. This trend would continue into Gen VI. This trend would continue into Gen VI. Gen6 introduced the Mega Evolutions, though. So, technically they had new evolutions for old pokemon. RE: Gen V's Pokemon Numbers - mattwo - 12-29-2014 Mega evolutions are a completely different gameplay mechanic and do not count as different pokemon by any means, so no, they really don't count even on a technicality.
