Majora's Mask 3D Figure - Boyobmas - 01-09-2015
The Skull Kid Figure released as a pre-order bonus in the US, is based off of the collectable Skull Kid statue that was released during the original game's popularity.

I wouldn't argue that one is based on the other. Rather, they are both based on the same source. This pose Skull Kid is in is his pose from his official artwork. They both draw from the same source, leading to the similarities.
