Mic and Pup problems - CLXcool - 01-09-2015

Two things. First thing off the list of help is a skype related thing.  My mic isn't working. Its with a headset. The headphone part of the set works fine, but for some reason the mic isn't working. It worked the last time I used skype, but now, its not doing squat. What can I do to fix this? I tried unplugging and replugging the mic cord back in and that isn't working. What am I doing wrong that is making this not work?

And anti-malware keeps bringing up these 'pup' files that always show up when the scan is done. Even though I have removed them countless times, they are still there. How can I get rid of these pup files for good on my computer? Because telling them to 'quarantine' and restart ain't doing much here.
