Vault Boy Measuring Mushroom Cloud with Thumb: FALSE!

There was a fan theory circling the internet about Vault Boy’s thumbs up picture. It was said that this was a method used for measuring the safe distance from a nuclear blast.

“If you hold your thumb up to a mushroom cloud and the cloud is obscured by your thumb, then you’re in the safe zone. If the blast is bigger than your thumb then you need to find shelter immediately.”

It was proven by Fallout 2’s Lead Artist Tramell Ray Isaac that this was not the case, and that the Vault Boy is giving a general thumbs up.

“its just a thumbs up, basically saying everything is ok, when it really isn't ..nothing more than that” – Tramell Ray Isaac via Twitter.
