Captain Toad has only one game so far, just like Peach. His own series would make sense if he gets more games in the future.

Its a spin-off from Super Mario 3D world and takes place in the same series. Its part of the mario series.

No it is not part of the Mario Series, it's about Captain Toad, there is no Mario. It's like DK, Yoshi and Wario in a way (all get their own Series, Captain Toad would too), being Spin-Offs to Mario. More games starring Captain Toad could arrive in the Next Few Years, and if Captain Toad were to be in a Smash Bros. game, he wouldn't be represented under the Mario Series.

I do predict another Captain Toad game for the 3DS. I'll try to ensure I'm the first to Post Trivia about that game if there is one, listing it under the Captain Toad series.

Recently I reported the Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker page to go under it's own Captain Toad series. Once again, it's not about Mario, so like with DK, Yoshi and Wario games, it would make sense to go under it's own series (like those 3 I mentioned it be a Spinoff Franchise):
