Losing their touch in Vidya Games - Berry - 04-02-2013

I was recently playing Megaman 1 and i was PRETTY horrible at it despite me playing it ALL the time and usually beating the game in a breeze. Now i'm horrible at it,to the point where i called quits.

Does anyone has that experience where your good at a game and then suddenly,so horrible at it?

I personally feel that as I've grown up I've understood what games are and how [insert game] is supposed to be played. Going back to play older games like Megaman doesn't seem so bad because you can tell how the games structure is.

I too have the occasional experience where I'll go back to play an old game and absolutely suck at it, when back in the day I was pro. However, I usually just put it up to the idea that I was actually really bad back then too and I just thought I was doing well so that's how I remember it.

Same with Cody, I seem to have picked up experience on playing games over the years and now going back to games I used to be bad at I'm now kicking ass in.

However, I seem to have slowed down a bit, as some SHMUPs seem to kick me in the teeth despite me knowing what I'm doing. My fingers just can't keep up with the orders my brains give them.

Growing up I actually got better at games. Of course I came from a generation with access to Game Genie, and I relied heavily on it.

I honestly think my reflexes aren't as good as they used to be. I was playing Spyro a while back, a game I basically have memorized, and I was making timing mistakes like crazy that I shouldn't have.

Well, that's kinda understandable. Play with emulators is always worst than with the original console.

Only after playing a certain game for an extended amount of time, but that's normal, I think.

I cannot beat any stage in Megaman 3. Any of them, which is odd, considering I'm either good at the old megamans (1 and 2 specifically) or at least decent at a few stages (6 & more recently 9), but I just can't do anything in 3 for some reason. I even tried it with Save States DUN DUN DUNNNNN, nothing.

I used to play through Sonic 2 on a daily basis at a babysitter's after school when I was younger. These days it's a miracle if I can get through the Chemical Plant Zone.

I'll admit, Chemical Plant Zone always gave me trouble, but if anything I've gotten BETTER at most sonic games I play now.

I'm worse at platformers for the most part. I used to be good at Mario and Sonic games... I think. Thing is, I never beat any of them really until recently, even though I played them a ton in the past and think I suck now. Maybe I've gotten better after all... or maybe just more patient.

I know I've gotten a lot better at RPGs and puzzle solving, though. I used to need a walkthrough for almost everything :p
