I watched the first episode of Mad Bull 34. Why, I have no idea. It's about a newbie cop who gets paired up with a dirty cop called "Sleepy", when he's not "Mad Bull", who's also supposed to be seen as a good guy. Sure he sleeps with hookers and then steals their money, but he gives the cash to a center that helps women of abuse! He also tries to get a gaggle of them to sleep with his new partner since he's a virgin, resulting in a giant chlamydia pile while he's screaming "No!".
Sleepy also offer this bit of advice when a woman who is in shock clings to his new partner: "Stick your finger up her ass and she'll thaw out.".
A big theme of the first episode is catching serial rapists, but of course they have to wait until the women get their clothes torn off before rushing in to help.
Oh, and when people get shot they just blow apart with tons of blood. They have no bones or internal organs.

I collected them all, but I actually haven't had time to read the new, "correct" translation of the Sailor Moon manga that came out. I'd just read the crappy Tokyo Pop version.
Wow is this a breath of fresh air. No more of the slang that no one ever used in the 90s except on obnoxious kids shows. There's also names that are different from even the Japanese anime. In the manga it's "Moon Tiara Boomerang!", the Japanese anime is "Moon Tiara Action!" and I remember the English version being "Moon Tiara Magic!". Boomerang makes more sense since it did always come back to Sailor Moon if it hit right.
It's also weird to see everyone being so nice to each other. With the Dark Kingdom all the dudes were competing against each other except for the gay couple and Beryl kept killing everyone that messed up. In the manga they do want to outshine the others, but they still care about one another. Jadeite is actually put out of commission by Sailor Moon and the Dark Kingdom want badly to revive him.
I wonder why the anime writers made everyone so mean. It really got to be too much.

I remember when it was on Toonami it was "Moon Tiara Magic," I could be wrong and my memory fuzzy, but I think that was the version they went with. Anyone of them would have been fine and you are right logically Boomerang makes more sense. Either way something usually ended up dead when she did that. You'd think the monsters would be warned ahead of time to snatch that damn thing before you tosses it at them like some floating jewelry of death that it is.

Alright, I almost finished three volumes of the Sailor Moon manga, but it's too late. I'm at the point where all the words are just blurs.
I now understand where the anime writers got the Sailor Soldiers horrible personalities from. Sailor Jupiter mentions just once that she was devastated by an older guy at her school not returning her feelings, but then immediately realizes she has more important things to do. The anime takes that and turns it into a joke, making her fall in love with every guy and claiming he reminds her of her senior.
Sailor Mars doesn't show much emotion and is a bit blunt when she talks. Over time the others rub off on her and she acts more like a typical girl her age. The anime just chose to make her a permanent bitch and for some reason make her super horny, even though she outright says she doesn't trust men in the manga. If I remember correctly it's because her dad is a scumbag.
I have to say, the anime made some scenes much more epic, though. You know how in the anime the Dark Kingdom killed Serenity and Endymion? Well, in the comic after Endymion is killed Princess Serenity actually takes this huge sword and kills herself out of grief. Then, because her mom is so devastated, she doesn't properly seal Queen Metalia, which is why she comes back.
In the present time Endymion's current reincarnation is killed and his body is used by the Dark Kingdom. So Sailor Moon is just like "fuck this" and uses the same sword to try and kill both of them. The Sailor Soldiers don't die fighting like the do in the anime; they just give up their lives to try and make Sailor Moon wake up.
So I do like how the anime changed those things. The Sailor Soldiers are whipping around way too many weapons in the comic, so it was good to just eliminate or combine their abilities. I actually think the anime would be way better than the manga if they'd just kept the character's personalities the same and not left out some very crucial plot elements.

I love how Kodansha keeps making mistakes in their version of the Sailor Moon manga. The first was because of how the Japanese mix up l and r. Kodansha put "Spark Ring Wide Pressure!" for Jupiter's attack in one volume, but then caught the error for the next and correctly put it as "Sparkling Wide Pressure!". The thing is, this is an attack she uses in the anime, so having some knowledge of the show would've helped.
They also can't decide how the author's miss-spelling of "Diamond" should be (at least I think she meant for it to be that way; I've seen other Japanese author's struggle with the English spelling as well. I'd need to check the comic again but I think Kodansha had it as "Dimonde" and then "Demande".

Alright, after much procrastination I finally finished watching A Certain Magical Index II. Now I'm just going to take a break from this series and not watch Railgun S instantly. So, in the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions for a no-bullshit anime that doesn't dawdle with monologues in the middle of a fight scene, try to have a lame moral or use awkward moments and naked schoolgirls as comedy?
If I get any that I haven't seen or don't have on my playlist, I'll look into them. Thanks in advance! All suggestions are appreciated.

Paranoia Agent. It's a murder mystery anime with a somewhat supernatural element to it. It's not overly dark and is really interesting.

I watched it because I wanted to see Railgun S and I can't skip a season no matter what. Railgun was by far the superior show. Index is still not a bad show either compared to some I've seen, it's just so... meh. And Index is still a terrible character.

Madoka Magica. No, I'm being completely serious as it's a great take on the magical girl genre that handles its themes well in a mature and well written matter. This is all courtesy of Gen Urobuchi, who wrote Fate/Zero, Psycho Pass, and a few other works.
