RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - Hexadecimal - 04-22-2013

I've been less than impressed with AMV Hell but I'll watch this one since it's been awhile. I just don't think I'll ever laugh as hard as the Tokyo Godfathers Drag Queen segment on AMV Hell 0.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I SPENT THE ENTIRE 7-9 pm WATCHING THIS. I didn't know these were still being made. Also, ALL THE CHOCOLATE!

Which was the last one you had seen? They also have a YT channel with short AMV Hell episodes: https://www.youtube.com/user/amvhell Currently waiting for season 3.

I think it was 4.
Though, I was told to avoid X like the plague.

Since I'm curious in some of your tastes...everyone's favorite anime, go go go.

It seems like now I don't get into anime anymore, instead sticking to the older stuff, because everything I try ends up being really depressing and gory when I'm not expecting it.

Favorite of all time is The Big O. Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, Tenchi Muyo!, Tenchi in Tokyo, and Tenchi Universe are pretty high up there as well. I hate the new Tenchi series, though. The first three series just had occasional fan service but that's all the new Tenchi series is about, and Tenchi is barely even in it!

Happy Lesson is a really adorable anime about a group of teachers who all want to be a student's mother since he's an orphan.

Satoshi Kon made some really neat stuff when he was alive, but he was a bit too fond of sexual content. Paranoia Agent is the only series he did but he has a fair amount of movies. Tokyo Godfathers is a must see. Paprika is also sort of like a mature version of Alice in Wonderland.

I really should look at my anime shelf... I know there's more.

Oh, I got into Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt because of the zany art style. The story is really immature and yet I still kept watching. The Black Rock Shooter OVA was so amazing but the series got so dark! That took me by surprise since the OVA was nowhere near that violent and cruel.

Oh! Oh! Is This a Zombie? Is a lot of fun! You should check that one out.

Lastly, Nyan Koi. No English dub sadly, but it's a funny harem anime about a boy who accidentally breaks a cat statue and pisses off a cat god. As a result he must do 100 good deeds for cats or turn into a cat himself! What sucks for him is that he's allergic to cats so this is no easy task!

So far the best anime I've seen is Angel Beats, despite being so short lived and cut off from funding so they could only do half a season, they managed to make one amazing anime and have a fantastic finale. The only way I can see how it suffered from it's lack of episodes is they didn't get to flesh out all the characters like what seemed to be the original goal, telling everyone's story of why they're stuck in that afterlife place. (Also that was no spoiler they tell you that at the beginning of the first episode.)

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. It was one of the first animes I really got into and the mystery and suspense all the way through the multiple seasons has been great. Now I'm eagerly waiting for a new season of Umineko no Naku Koro ni, which is a spinoff to the Higurashi series. I also still need to watch the last "season" of Higurashi.

X? All there is are the main series from 1 to 6, the two 0 movies, Championship Edition and the AMV Hell Minis series.

I was probably thinking of O. One of them was something I couldn't show on this forum if what I heard is right.

Just say Cromartie. It applies to everything.

Divided by 0 is actually the worst one. It's just the most disgusting hentais they could find; it's not even funny and I didn't finish it all.

0 has naughty content as well, but there's actually some really funny segments in there. Someone actually posted a "clean" version of it on youtube, but sadly took it down. I mentioned it before, but the Tokyo Godfather's clip came from 0 and it was laugh out loud funny because it fit so perfectly.

I'm so glad that many people here love Cromartie. Yes, it's stupid, but who cares? It's great fun and an enjoyable comedy.

After much delay, I finally started Code Geass last night. Pretty engaging and fun stuff so far.

I wouldn't even have known of Cromartie if it wasn't for Matt. For that, I thank him. And now I've seen all the episodes.

I'm also finally starting to get into A Certain Magical Index. It's been a while since I've actually watched a shonen anime.

On a somewhat related note, has anyone noticed how annoying it is how in some anime episodes (usually shonen) they try to prolong a scene to make it more "intense" and basically what they are doing is making a guy running through a normal living room take 5 minutes? Literally, five minutes. I would've ran halfway through this town in that time.

Yeah I like Cromartie, but it's not my favorite anime.

And to cover the flipped side of things, what anime do you consider the worst? I'll post mine after I break out the wall-of-text maker.

RE: General Anime/Manga/Otaku Thread - MexicanAnime - 04-25-2013

Green Green or Chu Bra.

Both series have unlikable characters, very stupid and badly executed plots, while being both unfunny. The last icing on the cake is the excess amount of fanservice in both shows, in where Chu Bra is worse in those regards due to them being in elementary school.
