I think it mostly depends on how you bump an old/inactive thread. If you post something insightful and useful to an old thread, the I guess it might be worthy, but now, if you derail a thread simply because of spam, then we have a problem.

I just looked up the definition on Urban dictionary and yes, you are right.

Man, and here I though that "derailing a thread" was a synonimous of "bumping a thread", silly me.

Think of it as "derailing a train". It had an intended course and it isn't on it anymore.
