Tabletop games - Maxpphire - 09-28-2017

Who here likes Tabletop games? Or who wants to get into Tabletop games but not sure how.

This is not limited to RPGs, but actual board games a little more obscure and 100% more fun then monopoly.

Love D&D, favorite game hands down. If I could only do one thing for the rest of my life it would be D&D. Well I mean eating and breathing and sex but aside from those gimmie some dice.

Also been really into TCGs since I was 6 or so. Started with Pokemon and Yugioh, switched to Magic around 2011, picked up Hearthstone on the side but unlike the rest it's an absolutely shitty game that I just play because it's the only decent PC card game (actually Pokemon has a pretty sweet client but I'm not a huge fan of the game itself). Also did some weird ones for a while like Dungeon Dice Monsters, Bakugan, The Neopets Card Game, this one about wild animals that was pretty cool, this one about the bible that my mom bought me that wasn't, etc. Magic's my favorite by far.

I do play a lot of Magic, but beyond that I love player vs game type of games so I also play a lot of Betrayal, Zombicide Black Plague, Pandemic, and games like that.

My daughters bought some edition of Monopoly; it uses an electronic bank and property device and it's designed to be played much faster.

Other than that, all I really have is Connect 4, Chutes and Ladders, Trouble and Clue.

I keep hearing that there’s a need for a modern Monopoly, where players can’t afford anything and spend the whole game renting while the bank takes all the money #2edgy

I’ve always loved tabletop games. Kinda wish I’d had friends into D&D, it looks like so much fun.

There is a Gamer Monopoly where it's Mario Theme. It's quicker and the game ends as soon as Go is passed 7 times (8 if you have the collectors edition)

Hmmm.... you're just going round and round in life, making money wherever you can, and BOOM! you're dead, like that version on the game. You didn't have a chance to catch up. It's over. Done. Finished. Just like that. The game of life is over.

RE: Tabletop games - Melcadrien - 10-03-2017

I've been picking up a couple RPG books lately. Just so I have some core rulebooks for the situation.

Currently I have Pathfinder, Shadowrun, Doctor Who, Warhammer, and Savage worlds. I have a bunch of palladium rpg books, too.

I kinda don't want to play Monopoly these days because, to me these days, it's a game about crushing your opposition and running the entire board with the most money.

Although, I would like to try and play this board game called Pathologic. Mainly because I like the PC game version.

RE: Tabletop games - CosmykTheDolfyn - 10-04-2017

I've been playing Pathfinder with some friends using Discord. We have a pretty freaking amazing GM that is keeping track of movements and everything despite not being at the table. Nobody is at the same table. Yet, it's working really well and is quite a blast.

I'm thinking about setting up some webcams for my table just because. Then again it makes a good was table for strategy in splatoon 2

RE: Tabletop games - retrolinkx - 10-07-2017

I play Japanese Riichi Mahjong with a couple of my friends, and I'm on my way to owning my own set (bought a play mat a few minutes ago, and looking for a tile set as I type).

Actually played a game today, I won with a lucky 8000 point hand and pushed myself into first place. I've been playing for a year now and I'm a lot better than I was before, so having my own set will be a nice addition to the things I own.
