Weird Key Configs? - Arjahn - 04-21-2013 What are some weird key configurations you use in games? For me, I always need to bind crouch to the F key, and sometimes I like to jump with M2. RE: Weird Key Configs? - Mass Distraction - 04-22-2013 Is it weird that I actually always default everything? Because I do. Only in GTA4 I used the classic controls. RE: Weird Key Configs? - Lazlo Falconi - 04-22-2013 I always put crouch to left ALT. I don't know how you're supposed to hit CTRL when your strafing left, but I'll never need crouch and jump at the same time so I just use my thumb for both. Also I used to play games with ESDF instead of WASD until I came across a game that wouldn't let me change the keybindings. I got used to it and kept doing it because it was easier than changing they keys in every game. Also for some reason everybody uses Z and X as A and B (or whatever) in most emulators. I don't understand this behavior. Like am I the only person in the world who automatically puts his fingers on asdf? RE: Weird Key Configs? - TomGuycott - 04-22-2013 There was this mmo I played where you could have somewhere above 30 spells all corresponding to a letter (eventually using both capitals and lower case). First you'd have to hit Shift Z and then hit the respective letter. What I I'd do is map my spells to both cap and lower A, S, X, and Z. They were pretty much the only spells I used anyway. RE: Weird Key Configs? - BumblebeeCody - 04-23-2013 For hack and slash games I usually try to keep the same layout. (Metal Gear Rising/DMC34mC/Bayonetta/Darksiders2/Ninja Gaiden 3 etc) X/Square: Main attack RT/R2: Shoot LT/LB/L1/L2: Change weapons RB/R1: Dodge A/X: Jump And then the rest to fit with the game. It makes it easier to hop between games. RE: Weird Key Configs? - 2D Brain - 04-23-2013 can't think of anything specific at the moment, but imo it's inexcusable for any game not to let you rebind all the keys in this day and age, even on consoles. ah wait, the most immediate thing i can think of is pressing circle to confirm and x to cancel in PS1 games, such as Metal Gear Solid. i've read that it's due to grading in Japanese schoolwork circling correct answers and checking or crossing incorrect answers. to me it's all about natural thumb position and left-brain/right-brain. RE: Weird Key Configs? - Mass Distraction - 04-23-2013 You know what I find confusing? When an action game forces you to use the stylus on the DS. It practically makes the 3D option unusable on the 3DS. |
