Should I try GTA 4? (NO FURTHER INPUT NEEDED) - Xannidel - 05-02-2013 My taste in games is...odd, I love Infamous's open world concept but hated Arkham City's open world so I am curious about something. Would I enjoy GTA 4? Also I lied I did play GTA:SA however I did not enjoy the rap music or the stereotypical black ghetto slang and what not so I did not enjoy the game...at all. So is GTA 4 similar to GTA SA in that sense? Thanks guys. RE: Should I try GTA 4? - A Zombie Riot - 05-02-2013 You realize that there was more than one radio station in San Andreas, correct? You didn't have to listen to the rap music. I never did. Would GTA IV be worth playing with GTA V coming in just about 4 and a half months? Hmm. Probably not. Since you have played SA, you never experience what GTA IV did so differently with the series, and GTA V is going back to its roots, really. I'd say no, and just wait for GTA V, which already looks to be 100x better than what GTA IV was. RE: Should I try GTA 4? - 2D Brain - 05-02-2013 The GTA4 collection with the two expansions was cheap on PSN last week and on Steam as well. If there was a time to pick it up, that would have been when. GTA4 is not the best GTA game to "get" why GTA was always so fun imo, but the PS2 games are far too outdated to play and only I like the original 2 games. So don't bother with those either. I say play Bully if you're going to play any old Rockstar game, and then get into the GTA series with 5... it's sure to be good and current... so I agree with Zombie Riot. I hate Arkham City, too, but early 90's rap is amazing :P RE: Should I try GTA 4? - Yawackhary - 05-03-2013 GTA 4 isn't like San Andreas at all or in fact like the other 3D GTAs, it is more serious and more "realistic". Even though the GTA satire is still there, the humour became less obvious and despite being a parody of New York [Liberty City], at the start it feels a bit more closer to a district in a UK city with the Eastern Europeans being in the more poorer areas so it is possible to meet someone like Niko or Roman in some areas. I didn't think Rockstar intented for that to happen, it is a case of something happening in real life is just a concidence. The other two expansions though aren't as realistic and are a bit more closer to the other games. To be honest, I didn't really enjoy GTA 4 at all. The graphics are murky [decent in 2008 but not now], the frame rate isn't the best [if you have to play on it, either 360 or beefy computer], the loading times are long and doesn't feel satisfying to play. The physics are quite nice though even though a coffee table shouldn't move when you run towards it and the story is okay. Plus when you try to do a mission to get somewhere in the game, your friends [Roman, Brucie, Jacob, that Irish family] annoy you on your phone begging you to go somewhere and if you don't go, your friend rating goes down. At the beginning, it isn't as bad but try half way though the game, it becomes really annoying... Also the only GTAs I enjoyed are the first 3 [GTA 1, London, GTA 2], did play GTA 3 a bit but not enough to have an opinion and haven't played Vice City Stories at all despite having it. San Andreas doesn't appeal to me and due to GTA 4, feel burnt out and put off getting GTA 5. Have yet to play Vice City actually and to many, that is considered the best one due to the 80s atmosphere [either that or San Andreas are considered the best ones]. RE: Should I try GTA 4? - Xannidel - 05-03-2013 Hmm if it is different then SA then wouldn't I enjoy it better? Also don't worry about annoying parts in games because I actually like them because I believe them to overall affect my completion score/trophies and what not. RE: Should I try GTA 4? - Psychospacecow - 05-03-2013 If you can find it on sale for more than 40% off, go for it. If not, screw it. RE: Should I try GTA 4? - Xannidel - 05-03-2013 I can get the complete edition of GTA4 on Amazon for like $20, that seems like a good deal to me. RE: Should I try GTA 4? - Hipserious - 05-04-2013 The main problem that many have with the game is that it's slow at the beginning, not just regualrly slow either like JRPG slow. Also the focus isn't really over the top fun, it's more grounded in reality and trying to immerse yourself in this city. However the city itself DOES actually feel alive and there's so much content here. I'd definitely say give it a try. RE: Should I try GTA 4? - BumblebeeCody - 05-04-2013 The GTA games are like Final Fantasy. They keep the same mechanics and references but you can join in whenever you want and not feel like you need to play the others to experience the series as a whole. Do you need to play GTAIV? I think it's a great game that's well worth playing if you aren't focused on any other games but if you join in on the GTAV train, you haven't missed anything. RE: Should I try GTA 4? - Xannidel - 05-04-2013 Eh I ordered it, if I don't like it then that is okay. RE: Should I try GTA 4? - FUS RO DAH - 05-05-2013 The amount of stuff my friends and I did in free mode alone was easily worth the $60 I paid. Races, Helicopter wars above the city, Shootouts, Random shenanigans etc.. The Main game is really well made to (not sure about the dlc's) RE: Should I try GTA 4? - Psychospacecow - 05-05-2013 Since you decided, may I advise deleting this thread?
