Shortly after the game's release, players discovered a glitch that allowed them to sent their opponents flying into the stadium called the "Hercules Check" glitch.

The glitch was so impactful that EA themselves recreated the glitch in real life. One of the members behind the game claimed that the "glitch" was done to "recreate the authencity" of real-life hockey.
