I'm interested in if the old rumor about some pixel characters being available in the 3DS version still holds water.

Btw. I love Capcom's promo art for the game:

I was expecting one of the new captains to come in with the Pikmin.

I will never get why everyone wants Olimar in the game. I can say that I can think of dumber characters to put in. At lest they did not put in balloon fighter or exitebike like they wanted. The only other bizarre character I wont back in is ROB.

Olimar is ridiculously fun as controlling the variety of Pikmin at your disposable is satisfying with the number of combos you can pull off with him. He can be quite the prick when you're trying to run away or charge for a certain attack as well, which I love about him as you gradually build damage on your enemy more and more and more and more and then bam! You bust out the pimp purple pikmin and knock them out of the screen.

Also, the Pikmin are cute as fuck.

Just wanted to put this question in a separate post, since nobody answered and I really didn't want to double post.

There are many bizarre fighters in the series. I believe that we have talked about this before. There are two types of fighters. The ones that make sense in a fighting game (Mario, Link, Kirby, Samus, Megaman) and those that you question why they were picked (Olimar, Villager, Wii Fit trainer, ROB). The latter would be difficult since you would need to make up move sets that make since for the character. Link can use a lot of moves from his games. Same with Mario, and Pit, and even Megaman. What can Olimar do in his game? Headbutt, call pikmin, and throw pikmin. Even if you looked at the guy and thought "we need him in a fighting game" you need to make up most of his moves. You can say the same thing about Fox and Captain Falcon, but at lest you have back story for both of them to base their moves off.

"Make up most of his moves".

You actually should play the Pikmin games you actually do quite a bit of combat that is utilized in what you do in Brawl(plus, Pikmin 2 is great in general). Just because Olimar's not some big gruff guy with some tats all over his arms doesn't mean he doesn't fit well with Smash.

Plus, as said before, this is a party fighter. I have way much more fun with using a small guy like Olimar rather than swinging a sword with Link or such.

Sorry, didn't mean to skip this and the site is being weird and won't let me edit.

That would be neat, though it's not something I would go crazy about.

I guess I really did not get the appeal of having someone who is know for throwing more powerful team mates. I may not have played the games before but if I remember correctly, Olimar's headbutt was weaker than the pikmin in general. they must have changed that for brawl. I never really used the pikmin attacks as they seemed to not do that much damage the other characters (except the purple ones) and the people I played with online knew how to ether avoid them or shake them off. To me it would be like fighting the pokemon trainer without his pokemon. the match would be over/boring really fast. Plus, I think he and the pikmin are a few centimeters high. He should be facing Diglett or Roselia instead of Mewtoo.

Speaking of height, Pichu is 1' and Pikachu is 1'04". Most of the heights in the game are not that accurate.

Man I would have KILLED for Balloon Fighter.

Like, you can have my eldest son. He can't play football worth a damn anyway.

I just hope they make him a bit better than when he was in Brawl.

RE: The Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread - Mass Distraction - 07-12-2013

It does seem that Villager uses Balloon Fighter in one of his moves, though.

RE: The Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread - Dutchtica - 07-12-2013

Yeah it seems to be one of his recovery moves

I still want Travis Touchdown.
